Talent Uprising: Brad Standley

Vegas guitarist/singer warms up your soul with “Antarctica”…

You may have never heard of Brad Standley…and that’s okay. Until now, this handsome singer-songwriter has maintained a relatively low profile. With one shoe in Las Vegas and another in New York City, Brad somehow manages to hop back and forth between the two cities. But lately he’s been working hard to make a name for himself everywhere. He wants to bring his personal style of music to your ears with the release of the new single “Antarctica”.

If you were fortunate enough to experience BAZ: A Musical Mash-up at Venetian/Palazzo, you may have already seen and heard Brad on that wonderful stage. He’s also appeared in productions on Broadway (In Transit) and is touring the country with Waitress: The Musical. But no matter what venue he’s performing in or how large the city, this young man from a north California farming community will always have a chunk of small-town Americana in his soul. And that slice of down-home spirit comes through with his music.

Visiting his YouTube channel, you’ll see that Brad enjoys making music right out there on the streets. I mean, he REALLY enjoys it. Hitting the sidewalks of various locations in a series he calls “Ditty in the City“, Brad and friends take pop music hits and re-imagines them with guitar and strong vocals. Here he joins fellow BAZ alumnus Danny McHugh for a fun acoustic version of Britney’s “Toxic”:

Brad’s current single “Antarctica” is one that’s near and dear to his heart. He originally recorded a performance video of the song more than five years ago. Last week it became a full-on concept video, showcasing Standley’s warm voice with soaring background vocals, stirring strings and sweeping horns. The song has just earned a place in Spotify‘s “Undiscovered & Brilliant” playlist.

Independent artists are the heart and soul of the music industry. For every megawatt star on the Strip and the Great White Way, there are dozens (perhaps hundreds) of struggling performers with equal and greater talent. They’re out there, waiting for you to discover, support and enjoy.
