Las Vegas Shutdown Gives Birth to ‘VINdemic’

Not even a killer virus can extinguish the creative supernova of ‘Bronx Wanderers’ own Vin A.

It’s often said that forest fires are nature’s way of restoring balance. After an inferno, the soil is replenished with vital nutrients, and new life springs forward. Las Vegas entertainment is in the midst of its own conflagration. Once the smoke clears, rotted logs like Mariah Carey, Terry Fator, and Criss Angel will have hopefully dried up and blown away. That’s when the rebirth of Las Vegas will really begin.

29871805_371057056721967_3880733133087608455_o

Raw, hungry talent like Colin Cahill and Makenzie Fly (Mak and the Cheese), Dai Richards (Tenors of Rock), Ian Ward, and Andrew Diessner having been yearning to move to the front. But they aren’t waiting for the flames to subside. They’re digging in, planting new seeds, and maximizing their time away from the stage to create, express, and surge forward.

You might say that Vin A. of The Bronx Wanderers is leading this ambitious youth movement. Driven by the ongoing closure of his family show at Harrah’s, Vin has been working nonstop since mid-March. Music videos, virtual concerts, writing/hosting his own web program, penning new songs, and even launching an offshoot band…all this and more have kept the handsome hunk at the peak of his game.

It’s a mad world, according to our man of the hour. Ask where he gets his boundless motivation and the smart-aleck New Yorker is likely to answer “It’s all about the money, man!”. But don’t believe it for a moment. Vin has the “entertainer gene” ingrained in every cell, fiber, and drop of blood. He lives for music, the rush of creative expression, and the thrill of sharing his vision with the world.

29872657_371456310015375_1535400028668354120_o

Vin totally knocked it out of the ballpark early this summer when he debuted the imaginative music video for “Know Where (To Begin)“. A jaw-dropping analysis of God, creation, war, and the fate of our existence, it’s delivered on an epic wave of gripping instrumentals and passionate vocals. Check it out.

Vin has been prepping several follow-ups to 2017’s wonderful “Geology“. One is VINdemic, a solo acoustic album that shares a name with his collaboration with family patriarch Vinny Adinolfi. Carefully following mandated health guidelines, the duo has been performing sold-out shows at E String Bar, an intimate “jazz supper club” in Henderson.

118187842_10101503822250410_8045418086636512961_o

Another place you may have enjoyed Vin’s music is at Tuscany Suites Resort, where he recently appeared alongside Vegas favorite Kenny Davidsen. Kenny’s “Bowtie Cabaret” is a weekly series highlighting local favorites like Jimmy Denning, Colin Cahill, Cassie Stone, Lorena Peril, and Ashley Fuller.

Are you tired yet? Well, Vincent Adinolfi the third isn’t. He’s also been appearing on programs like Rocking Comedy Show with Jay Bird and Time2Vegas. His own talk show What The Cluck?! started season two this year with a new location at The Space. The daring chat-fest mixes politics, comedy, social commentary and current events in wildly-random doses. You never know where a conversation will lead, just like Vin’s music.

116264645_10224557909354553_5760288287094448028_o

As a die-hard fan, I truly enjoy the pleasures of Vinny’s compositions. Many of them are styled like an opus, with dramatic shifts in tone, style and direction. He deftly crisscrosses genres within a song, dallying in classic rock, pop, soul and funk along the way. “Know Where (To Begin)” will be one of the singles from his OTHER new album entitled “Mountains of Ignorance“, and yet another Bronx Wanderers recording is on the way. Geesh!!!

In a normal year, Vin’s fizzy upcoming “Wishing Well” would have been a chart-topping summer hit to cruise the streets by. This week, he and multi-tasking partner Elizabeth Jane Hunt, along with a sizzling team of dancers, filmed a music video for “Wishing Well“. The shoot drew talent from the casts of X Country and Aussie Heat.

Here’s a sneak peek directly from the studio:

You may be wondering at this point if there’s anything left to do. I haven’t even gotten to the biggest undertaking…personalized Bronx Wanderers shows. While other Vegas shows have been quietly waiting to return…or have permanently folded…Vin A. and The Bronx Wanderers refuse to become a faded memory. You can follow the latest announcements, including their eventual reopening at Harrah’s, through the official Bronx Wanderers page and the dedicated Vin A. Facebook page.

Hot Guys of Vegas: Andrew Diessner, Entertainer Extraordinaire

Multi-hyphenate entertainer is so all-around stunning that ya just wanna…

Do you remember that guy in high school who was seemingly perfect? Everyone loved him, he was the captain of every club and team, and somehow was also the teen that never got a blemish. He didn’t trip in the hallway or drop his books…and he had the body of a young physique model.

thumbnail_Screenshot_20200819-043121_Instagram

Yeah, every class has at least one of those, then we get older and those guys turn into “one of us”. Unless your name is Andrew Diessner…then you just keep getting better looking…and better at everything…with each passing year. Where do these people come from, anyway?

Well, in Andrew Diessner’s case, the answer is “humble beginnings”. The sizzling gentleman whom you see in the clip above is far removed from the overweight child who was bullied by his peers. It was through internal motivation that the multi-octave hunk who’s equally impressive in jazz, opera, pop, soul, and rock music was once an insecure boy who disliked his own reflection.

thumbnail_Screenshot_20200819-043201_Instagram

“I was bullied relentlessly because I carried a little more weight than most. Being a “husky” kid was brutal. Children don’t hold back from telling each other how they feel and digging it in with a double-edged sword. I will never forget how uncomfortable I always felt in my skin. I never had the Nike Jordans, or the cool baggy pants (which were TERRIBLE, by the way, lol).”

“I didn’t really fit in any specific circle in school, so I bounced around a lot. I was sort of the class clown for each clique. Unfortunately, the words and the actions of those kids stuck with me for a very long time.”

thumbnail_Screenshot_20200819-043532_Instagram

That’s why the Denver, Colorado native is drawn to causes that assist depression, addiction, suicide prevention, and childhood bullying.

“I still see that 12-year-old me in the mirror sometimes. I don’t want any child to have to go through that. I know it gave me thick skin, but some kids don’t ever pull out of it. That leads to substance abuse, depression, anxiety, and so many other terrible things. If I can start a program, a charity, SOMETHING to get the word out and make a difference, I would give it everything I got.”

“Giving it all” is the fiber that seemingly holds this 34-year-old, 5-foot 10-inch hunk together. Those in the Vegas entertainment field have had it especially rough, as the unpredictable nature of their work has been infinitely compounded by COVID-19. But Andrew once again looked inside, gathered his strength, and came out better in a variety of ways.

“During the beginning of the pandemic, I sort of let myself go. Sort of is an understatement. I gained 16 lbs. (172lbs to 188lbs). I got sick of looking at myself in the mirror and feeling sorry for myself because I was uninspired and out of work, so I joined a transformation competition that I saw posted on Instagram. It was with a newish app called Fitness Culture Training.”

“I always like a good old-fashioned competition, and I am pretty competitive by nature, so I figured, why not make some money while simultaneously getting my physique back? It was a no brainer for me. I ended up doing really well and probably making one of the best transformations I have had to date. I wanted to be ready for when the city came back…mentally as well as physically. I wanted to be hireable NOW…being confident in my skin and having a Vegas-ready body was imperative.”

With the amount of uncertainty ahead in the entertainment field, many performers have been looking into alternate and additional careers. It’s our harsh current reality where only the smart and pro-active may be able to cover their expenses while still pursuing their passions.

thumbnail_Screenshot_20200819-043314_Instagram

“Man, this pandemic has been relentless. I honestly didn’t imagine it was going to last this long. I lost all my contracts at sea, as I am a guest entertainer that travels with two 45-minute shows. I had plans of buying a house in May when all my contracts at sea were done. I wanted to start building solid roots here in Vegas and become more involved in the entertainment scene here. I had two weeks scheduled to fill in for Colin Cahill at Atomic Saloon Show that I was really looking forward to performing in as well.”

“Pretty much every opportunity was stripped from me overnight. I didn’t know what I was going to do, but I knew that I would just have to keep a strong mental state. I haven’t been able to the entire time, but getting heavily involved in my transformation and digging into my passion for fitness, pulled me out of it. It was the healthiest option, and I was tired of feeling mentally and physically ill all the time. I knew I was better than that.”

“I am now starting online classes to become a certified personal trainer with ISSA, as well as a certified sports nutritionist, and transformation specialist. This has been a path I’ve wanted to explore for a long time, and there is no better time than now. It is something that I am very passionate about, and I am really looking forward to helping people change their lives.”

“To all the friendly people who laughed, pointed fingers and called me a fatty in middle school…love ya 😊 If you struggle with getting back into shape and you need some help and motivation…pm me. Helping you achieve your best self is my passion. Let’s do this together!”

I mentioned that Colin (Cahill) is known around town as “The Shirtless Singer”, yet Andrew is more of a white-shirt-and-bow-tie guy. I couldn’t help wondering if that was about to change now that the two of them are on a level playing field in the physique department.

Colin Cahill and Andrew Diessner (as “Blue Jackson”)

“Haha…Colin is the Man…and a dear friend of mine. He definitely has the reputation of losing the shirt on the stage, and I could never blame him. He looks fantastic! I have always been performing for a bit of a different demographic, so the bow tie and white collared shirt were necessary.”

“But it’s funny you mention that specifically because in my current desert photoshoot, I am walking with an open white collared shirt while removing a bow tie…sort of funny you mentioned it. So I guess you could say, that IS changing. I have worked hard for what I have, why not show it off more? Hard bodies sell. That’s just a fact.”

Watching Andrew perform, I was reminded of another handsome hunk with powerful vocals and a swaggering style…Grammy-nominated singer/actor/songwriter Cheyenne Jackson (Glee/American Horror Story/Descendants). I’ve spoken to Jackson several times, both in New York City and Las Vegas’ own Smith Center for the Performing Arts. I pointed out that he’d be great at playing Andrew in a biopic…and Diessner seemed to enjoy the comparison.

Andrew and Cheyenne Jackson follow similar career paths…

“OMG this is too funny. It’s like you’re calling out everything in my life as it has happened haha…Cheyenne Jackson is one of my favorites. He did a show called Xanadu on broadway, and I played the same character, Sonny Malone, in the show when a theater did it in Colorado. I had a good friend of mine tell me that I should just follow his career moves because we were so similar.”

“I take it as such a huge compliment because Cheyenne is a major talent and a great looking guy. So, I would choose Cheyenne or Henry Cavil (to play me). Cavil has that steel jaw, great physique, and heaps of talent. Though, both of them have more hair than I do at this point. I may be going down a Statham/Willis/Johnson/Diesel route these days.”

With Halloween creeping up on us quickly, I inquired if that finely-tuned physique would get some exposure in the form of a gratuitous skin-baring costume. Perhaps something along the lines of Rambo or a superhero?

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

“Those are all really great costume Ideas. Rambo would be fun because I could put on a wig with a bandana, dirty up the face and chest, throw some ammo over my shoulder, and a cigar in my mouth. I have always enjoyed action flicks and have the dream of one day being able to star in a few of my own. That is why Captain America would be a close second…Marvel…HINT HINT COUGH COUGH…next superhero? What a blast that would be!”

75450005_10105619779488843_718490858311122944_n

And what would he be wearing under those camouflage pants or tights? “Boxer briefs….always”.

After you’ve gotten on the subject of a guy’s undies and realize that you haven’t even covered some of the basics, it was time to backtrack a little. So I threw out some of those traditional interview questions about his background, stats and likes/dislikes.

72086170_10105517265692313_7301660066392834048_n

“I have been in Vegas for 4 years now. Originally, a relationship brought me out here 😬 Turned out, It was the best thing even though we are not together anymore (he’s currently single). There are so many performance opportunities for me here. I can’t wait until the city comes back.”

68663479_10105413095140933_2260992448152993792_n

Dogs or Cats: “I grew up with both cats and dogs.  My preference has to be with dogs though. They are loyal, always happy to be beside you and be the companion you need. I prefer medium to large dogs, though I do have soft spot for the little ones. Cats turn on a dime and you never know what the hell they’re thinking…except you can guarantee they think they’re better than you lol I do, however, love watching cats get into trouble due to their curiosity.”

Hobbies: “Snowboarding, fishing, cooking, writing music, craft beer connoisseur, hiking, Jeeping, lake adventures (paddleboarding, boating, wakeboarding), raveling, being close to the ocean (snorkeling, jet skiing, scuba diving), trying new foods and drink, bar games (pool, darts), Texas Hold em…”

Charitable causes:Three Square (a Food Bank) is my favorite place to volunteer, Mondays Dark, and I am currently looking for more opportunities!”

Apparently, those opportunities include an audition video for Magic Mike Live, which I happened to discover on YouTube. And yes, he strips the shirt off at the end:

Dream role and collaboration: “A show I would love to star in…if we are talking about the stage, I would have to say Sweeney Todd. I LOVE the music and the character. It’s dark, it’s witty, and playing a loveable villain is always a good time. Duet partner…hmmmmm that’s a tough one…but I do love Anna Kendrick. So if you have some connections, throw them my info haha.”

“Otherwise, I would love to co-write a song with Brandi Carlile…What an incredible songwriter and singer she is. I can’t help but get emotional when I listen to her music. If we are talking here in Vegas…I really really really want to sing with Lorena Peril from FANTASY. She has a stunning voice, is downright beautiful, and has a heart of pure gold.”

As we brought our time together to a close, I mentioned that I found Andrew’s voice to be unexpectedly powerful. I inquired as to whether he felt that was due to physical or emotional traits.

78909819_10105634927646813_3167242599287226368_n

“I believe it to be both. I use the emotions that connect me to the song to emote power, volume, nuance, finesse, and whatever else is required of me vocally. And I’m lucky to have a voice that is versatile and can deliver different sizes of voice, as well as warmth and color. I studied opera theater in school, and I believe it gave me the training to be able to sing many different genres healthily.”

As we soldier through the most trying time of our lives, being healthy is indeed at the top of everyone’s list. Thank goodness that awesome hunks like Andrew Diessner and fellow members of “Hot Guys of Vegas” can inspire us…while adding a much-needed helping of eye candy to our recipe for overall wellness.

Jeff Timmons of ’98 Degrees’ Weathers the Storm

Sin City’s resident super-hunk on quarantine, creativity and some very pesky buttons…

Boy bands. Every decade has its share. Some, like The Beatles, create a lasting legacy while others yield punchlines or are forgotten. Resilient members re-invent themselves, branching off in new directions until the inevitable reunion tour. Jeff Timmons of 98 Degrees has experienced most of the above. And, like the boy band he founded, Jeff still keeps temperatures rising.

966573_10203721076093108_4399330906675874373_o

Timmons is a smart businessman as well as a seasoned entertainer. He’s weathered the ups-and-downs of fame and focused on personal growth when boy bands fell out of favor. While he was keeping busy behind the scenes in the music industry, the male revue Chippendales invited him to be a celebrity guest host.

Uncertain of how it would impact his career, the Canton Ohio native was reluctant to accept. His wife Amanda, however, realized that it was a great opportunity and urged him to give it a try. A few weeks turned several successful months, and Jeff was suddenly everywhere in Las Vegas…pool parties, nightclub gigs, and even a protest march down the Strip with dozens of Jubilee showgirls (that’s a whole other story).

Jeff Timmons

While pop singers often quickly fade away, Jeff Timmons’ lasting image is tailor-made for the Sin City scene. He boldly embraces his sex appeal, which isn’t as common for male performers as you might think. With open shirts (sometimes even bare-chested) and sensual body language, the always-shredded hunk knows how to make hearts race and body heat soar.

Timmons is also the rare musician who celebrated his LGBTQ fan base long before it was common to do so. He recognizes everyone as equals and was ahead of the times by performing at gay clubs, participating in Las Vegas Pride, and promoting the NOH8 Campaign for marriage, gender, and human equality.

After the Chippendales stint, Jeff settled here permanently with Amanda and the kids. Then he created his very own male revue called Men of the Strip. The sexy production was daring and cutting-edge, with a focus on live singing and one or two controversial sequences (like this one). MOTS toured the country, had a limited run at Hard Rock Live, and was covered in a documentary event for E! Network.

98 Degrees was headed to the Philippines as part of their latest tour when COVID-19 struck, so now Jeff is hunkered down in Las Vegas with the family. I was able to get ahold of the hard-working stud and talk about his motivations, latest activities and long-term plans. I also tried to get to the bottom of all those unbuttoned shirts.

You’ve dabbled in many facets of entertainment, like reality television, recording studio engineering, and mentoring new acts. What’s left to conquer?

When I think of things I’d like to “conquer” or from an accomplishment standpoint, I feel like I’ve got a LONG way to go. I’m working hard to make a mark in the TV space in a number of different areas. I’ve got a few non-scripted things in the works finally, an entertainment news magazine show, a holiday special, and some other things going. I eventually want to get some scripted things happening as well. I’m launching a podcast very soon, so there is some new news on the horizon. I’ve got a lot of things left to do!

31357884_10155417904937747_5816787235332161536_n

The Vegas entertainment community is crippled right now. Do you have any encouraging words or suggestions?

I think the entertainment business as a whole has really suffered, not just in Vegas. I’m fortunate enough to have a very loyal and dedicated fanbase. 98 Degrees has the luxury to reschedule shows, create new music, etc.  Not everyone has that luxury. I know I’m very lucky. I like to look at things from a positive perspective.

Although this pandemic has been devastating to everyone, there are some good things that have emerged. There are tons of new and developing technologies that allow artists and entertainers to produce high-quality productions from their homes. The pause has really given me the opportunity to learn more about music and TV production, and get better in the studio. Artists just have to be creative on how to keep fans engaged.

87126503_10156892303072747_8583205765521604608_n

Another plus is that because folks have so much time on their hands, entertainment is being consumed more than ever. You really only need a handful of loyal fans that believe in you and what you’re creating to make a living. You just have to be creative. And, although things can be depressing, find a way to stay positive and use the time to get better at your craft.

There’s a joke going around that men will come out of the pandemic as either a “hunk”, “chunk” or “drunk”. Which one will Jeff Timmons be?

WELL… I started out working out like a fanatic (wannabe hunk), then slipped for a bit (put on some chunk), and now I’m back in obsessive mode (trying to get to hunk again). One thing has been consistent: the DRUNK part, lol…

A lot of artists are saying that the shutdown’s isolation has allowed them to create new and better pieces of work. Have you experienced that?

I definitely have utilized the time to try to get better. After the initial shock of having to postpone 40+ shows, I rolled up my sleeves and have been using this time to learn more about the recording studio, reading a ton of inspirational and motivational material, and pitching a number of ideas to strategic partners that will go into production when things open back up. I’m trying to make lemonade out of lemons.

What one Sin City guilty pleasure do you miss having at your fingertips right now?

I’m not much of a sleeper, so I loved how at any time of the night I could find something to do on the strip. I miss that.

Choose one new favorite: A) catching up on sleep B) binge-watching movies/shows C) spending more time with family

I think it’s a toss-up between B and C. We crafted our touring schedule to be home with our families during the week, but the quarantine has really allowed for much more quality time. I’ve also binged-watched about everything there is to watch on all of the streaming services. There isn’t much left but foreign language series, and I’ve fallen in love with a lot of those!

Have you formed any new habits that will remain when things return to normal?

I’ve always been a reader, but I make it a point to dive into at least one new book a week. That habit is going to stick for sure.

69212098_2346934125343648_8382104362951901184_n

Do you foresee yourself staying closer to home now instead of touring? Is there a possible Vegas residency in the works?

I LOVE being at home with my family. That being said, the demand for live concerts is at an all-time high. I think 98 Degrees has at least one or two more big tours in us. We are DEFINITELY exploring opportunities for a Vegas residency. The chance to be in one place and have the fans come to us is a dream come true. It allows us to stay with our families.

You’re known to your fans, friends, colleagues, and locals as a kind, genuine person. What keeps you grounded?

I hope that’s true. I think it’s all about how you’re raised. My parents made sure we always stayed grounded and treated others with the utmost respect. Part of staying focused and keeping things real with yourself is having a constant inner dialogue about what your truth is and taking an inventory daily of what you’re thankful for. Grattude is the attitude!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I often call you the “Sexiest Man Alive”. You embrace your physical appeal in a way that few male artists do. Have you always been that confident?

You’re always so kind when it comes to that. I’m so very flattered. I try to embrace it because it’s part of the business. Unfortunately, talent is always further down the list when it comes to success in the entertainment business. We learned that as a group early on. We know that fans are expecting us to look good. Anyhow, it gives us an excuse to stay healthy and in shape. Hopefully, it makes our wives happy!

16427773_1858531187694820_7172362526110668167_n

Will we see more of ‘Men of the Strip‘, or is that chapter closed for good?

I never want to close the chapter on ‘Men of the Strip.’  It was such a success from a touring standpoint and so much fun.  It was quite a different experience from anything else I’ve ever done.  There is always a demand for that show, so never say ‘never!’

Crazy Jay Shakes Up Vegas with “ROCKING COMEDY SHOW”

Long-running radio program raises a glass to mayhem and music…

69150909_10220778455270563_5964991558691323904_o

Update 8/25/20 – Radio Vegas Rocks is offering discount advertising to readers of Vegas Unfiltered Blog. Save up to $100.00 on select packages. Contact the station directly by following this link, and be sure to mention that you heard about it here.

Video didn’t kill the radio stars, no matter what you’ve heard. They just evolved, changed the rules and came at you from a different direction. Unencumbered by those pesky FCC regulations, internet broadcasting has freed deejays and programmers to do things the way they’ve always wanted to. That’s why everyone loves RadioVegas.rocks and its featured program The Rocking Comedy Show.

96682608_3248597118492210_3554983223043817472_o

Taking over the world one laugh at at time, The Rocking Comedy Show is three hours of nonstop “cray cray”, if you can still use that expression without sounding lame. Just how nutty do things get? Imagine yours truly is co-hosting an episode where an indie musician (Scott Willians) and a healthcare worker are barfing up their contributions to the “Death Nuts Challenge” right outside the studio door.

It may sound like madness, but it’s just another day at the office for Jason Bird, aka “Crazy Jay”. The dedicated host and creator of The Rocking Comedy Show seemingly lives and breathes the party-hearty chatfest, which has deposited more than 1,100 episodes into the vault. That’s no small feat for a show that’s been running in one form or another since 2000…which is like a century in “radio years”.

Screenshot 2020-06-24 at 10.43.00 AM

Jay began broadcasting RadioVegas.rocks from a brand-new custom-built Kicker Studio earlier this year. He shares the space with two pups, a big desert tortoise and an ancient cat named “Hank Williams”. His dad is usually on hand to great visitors and keep Jay on his toes.

Guests play trivia games and get to compete for cool gifts….or the opportunity to strip the top off their competitor (relax….it was comedian Myles Weber, a dude with abs and a toned man-rack worth flaunting). Manly-man sponsors like Spunk Lube, Nut Rub, Dr. Squatch and local food favs Pinches Tacos and Jessie Rae’s BBQ supply the prizes…and in-studio muchies (yes!).

Since arriving in Las Vegas twenty years ago, Jay has had plenty of up-and-coming talent behind the microphone, and an impressive list of household names, too. He’s worked with Tommy Chong, Bill Cosby, Sinbad, Lily Tomlin, Weird Al Yankovic, and Bill Engval, among others. And there was that time when iconic actor Wesley Eure kicked off an appearance at The Golden Tiki for a Land of the Lost reunion.

Vegas celebs like Mike Hammer, Murray SawChuck, Elvis impersonator Steve Connolly, George Wallace, Colin Cahill (Atomic Saloon Show), Makenzie Fly and Louis D’Aprile (Sex TIps) have been know to drop by for their own brand of on-air mayhem.

Jay has demonstrated his love for the city with charitable events and epic halloween parties, where he gets to show off his passion for horror films. Then there was that time in 2014 when he broke a world record for the longest marathon broadcast (80 hours and one minute).

Lots of creative people have helped to evolve the show through the years. Some have gone on to create their own programs, and Jay’s invited newbies like myself to pop their broadcast cherries and share happenings, views…and maybe a sip of Tito’s.

Then of course there’s the music, like classic hits, underground finds and new songs….like the debut of Know Where (To Begin), the lastest from Bronx Wanderers bad boy Vin A:

This week I asked Jay to step onto the other side of the spotlight for a change…and answer a few questions. Here’s what he had to say:

What sets The Rocking Comedy Show apart from similar programs?

The content nowadays everyone has an online radio show or a podcast, but its the content that has to grab you and keep bringing you back. We are currently at 1,121 episodes and you don’t get there by doing the same stuff over and over. You have to be dedicated to do it, and that’s not just the show. It’s the prep, the social media, the website updates and more. If you don’t have the time to tell anyone about it or how to find it, why are you doing it?

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Is anything ever too outrageous?

Yes, we have hit that a few times. At first it may be funny, but you listen back, or listeners hit you up. I don’t regret any show I have done, and I don’t apologize for a bad one, I just move on and don’t discuss it.

Tell me about a guest stint that derailed, and one that you wished didn’t have to end.

Over 1k shows and I don’t think any of our stints have derailed. Most of the guests who come on are aware of the show and what it’s all about. We have done some killer interviews that maybe started slow, or off to a weird start, but then it took off. Sometimes it’s the guest, or their PR person telling us what we can’t ask them.

This happened with Vince Neil and also Lita Ford but then they brought up what we were told not to, and boom! magic. Also had comedian Sinbad on the show…he was scheduled for 30 we had him for over 2 hours and we never stopped laughing.

39221318_2046433068708627_5178493780193443840_n

Your favorite part of being a host?

Some would say the control. To me it’s the uncertainty of what can happen. If you’re on your toes and have a good ear, you can grab a sound effect or a song that goes with what your talking about, driving the train keeping it rolling, and keeping the timing of the show perfect. I don’t like to stay on one topic for too long. Get a big laugh, move on, don’t beat that joke to death, maybe revisit it later if you can.

What’s more fun…..discovering fresh talent or slamming tired celebs?

I love finding new talent and maybe pair them up with someone who does the show a lot and get them to do a song. Vegas has so much un-noticed local talent it’s amazing what I have found.

Screenshot-2018-12-23-at-8.17.24-PM

Mariah, Britney and Criss Angel are sinking in quicksand and you only have one lifeline. What’s your move?

I am assuming if I see them sinking I have also put myself in jeopardy with this quicksand. So, I would use the lifeline on myself because I have more shows to do.

“When Vegas goes dark, the Stars come out.” That statement takes on a deeper meaning in our harsh, new reality. Now thanks to the team at Mondays Dark and The Actors Fund, Sin City’s entertainment community will be on the receiving end of founder Mark Shunock‘s charitable organization for the first time.

Mondays Dark variety show at The Space has donated to dozens of charitable organizations since its inception six years ago, raising over one million dollars in total. Every event benefits a different organization/cause and presents a unique theme. Performers from all over the city have gathered on a bi-weekly basis, offering their time and talents. Now they’re the ones in need of assistance.

Perpetually shirtless Colin Cahill will join wife Makenzie Fly for “Mak and the Cheese”

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, all performance venues in Las Vegas have been shut down. Thousands of entertainers, artists and support crew are without work, and very few are receiving temporary compensation to get by. The Actors Fund, best known in Los Angeles and New York City, has partnered with Mondays Dark to help raise money for the Vegas entertainment community during this desperate time.

BradGarrett

Mark Shunock and comedian Brad Garrett…

With all of the joy that these special people have given us, along with the pain and sacrifices inherent in their profession, now is the best time to show our appreciation and support. Beginning 5pm PST on April 27th, local and national entertainers will take to the virtual stage. The six-hour event features Brad Garrett, Joey Fatone, Dot Marie Jones, Jon Taffer, Clint Holmes, John DiDomenico, Bucky Heard (The Righteous Brothers), Colin Cahill & Makenzie Fly (aka “Mak and the Cheese“), cast members from Cirque Du Soleil and more. A complete lineup of entertainers for the evening will be announced in the coming weeks.

COVID19

The Live Stream Telethon will be broadcast free of charge on the Mondays Dark website and all their social platforms. Mondays Dark will donate 100 percent of funds raised to the local entertainment community through The Actors Fund.

In addition to the telethon, Mondays Dark has been selling the FUCOVID hat, an extremely unique baseball cap to benefit the same effort. So far the project has raised more than $5,000.00 for struggling entertainers. Hats are just $20 and proceeds go to the Mondays Dark Performers Fund – dedicated to helping performers who have been affected by the pandemic. Get yours by following this link.

President Trump” aka John Di Domenico, tells you how to get yours in this amusing clip:

It’s clear from events of the past decade that when people of Las Vegas are hard-hit, they come together and push back with twice as much force. Sin City will rebound…it may take a long time and there will be tough moments along the way. Please show your appreciation for the people who’ve made our lives so joyful and contribute to this special cause.

A strong body and clear mind both aid in warding off infection. They also help in reducing stress during these tenuous times, Nobody knows for certain how long the quarantine will last, but when restrictions are lifted, the stars of the Strip will need to be in top shape and ready for their first night back.

Vegas locals work hard to make your Vegas visit something worth treasuring. And just like you, they’re facing a lockdown that has not only put them out of work but confined their activities to the home. Spouses MaKenzie Fly (Sex Tips) and Colin Cahill (Atomic Saloon Show) have been working overtime to entertain everyone via their new page Mak and the Cheese. It’s packed with wit, skits and original songs to make you laugh. Here’s a sample:

Some have been sharing their tips to stay in peak physical condition, and you can join them in their quest for optimal health. Whether you’re limited to household objects and portable resistance bands or have a full gym set-up on your patio…get out there, use it and be safe.

The world-famous hardbodies of Chippendales male revue were some of the first on the scene with online fitness tips. Profile recipient Ryan Worley (CEO of BodyKink.com) caught the eye of TMZ for a pair of video tutorials that launched the Chippendales series. Using everyday objects like almond-milk jugs, pillows, and staircases, Worley demonstrates how to tighten your glutes and build upper-body strength.

Aided by Justin Timberlake’s “SexyBack”, towering hardbody Pat Tanksi shows how he stays limber and flexible. His handsome canine companion “Geno” donned a trademark collar and bowtie to join his dad for a set of slinky moves.  You can expect more helpful videos from the men of Chippendales in the days ahead. Be sure to see the guys in person when Chippendales – The Las Vegas Show returns. The tentative opening date is April 18th, and popular guest host Vinny Guadagnino (Jersey Shores) rejoins the cast starting April 24th.

Le Reve – The Dream at Wynn boasts a cast of 60 gorgeous guys and girls. They’re a stunning collection of athletes that dive, flip, sail through the air and dance on water. Muscular lead performer Alexander Stabler is known for his graceful movements, strong legs and world-class gluteal development. Here he keeps “dat ass” firm by performing squats in a driveway, using his partner in place of a squat rack. There’s also a breakdown of Alexander’s cross-fit plan, with weight provided by stone-filled backpacks.

The erotic side of Cirque du Soleil comes to life in ZUMANITY at New York NY. Longtime cast member Wayne Skivington (read his Vegas Unfiltered profile HERE) stays in top condition year-round, whether at the theatre’s training room or in his own home. Here he works up a sweat in the back yard, pounding a sledgehammer onto some concrete.

Westgate‘s Soul of Motown features a five-member cast with lush vocals and nonstop dancing. During the production’s hiatus, vocalist Brandon Godfrey has been featuring his “Quarantine Fitness” regime on Facebook. Regular physical activity keeps his body as tight as the show’s gorgeous harmonies.

Jennifer Romas shares the Westgate Cabaret with Soul of Motown‘s cast. Her successful SEXXY has performed hundreds of shows in the gorgeous space. The production’s creator and star continues to rehearse and will be ready to excite audiences when the doors reopen.

“Men of Sapphire” offers a masculine take on the traditional stripper club bump-and-grind. Their billboards feature Roberto Alejandro Granados, an absurdly handsome accomplished dancer who’s been involved in large-scale productions like Jeff TimmonsMEN OF THE STRIP and Chippendales offshoot 53X.

Gunnar Walcavich is a real live “Ivan Drago”. Much like the mountain of muscle from Rocky IV and Creed II, Gunnar aka “The Big Gun” is a boxer of Russian descent. He’s also six feet four inch of power, energy and drive. But unlike the villainous character made famous by actor Dolph Lundgren, this resident of Henderson is kind, caring and funny!

Now an NFPT-accredited personal trainer, Gunnar hosts online fitness sessions. However, he prefers the one-on-one approach, where he can focus on the “personal” aspects of personal training. He’ll even do personalized visits in your home. Once an overweight young man with a goal to go “from zero to hero”, he’s transformed his own body and can do the same for you.

Here’s what Gunnar has to say about fitness in regards to the COVID-19 situation:

During the pandemic, I know money‘s been tight for people so I’ve been accommodating rates for everyone. They started out at $35 a session, but because of the pandemic I’ve been doing $20 a session. The sessions last anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes and create a very intense HIIT (high intensity interval training).

All In The Family

We’re always wishing to have more time with our families. Now that it’s here, you can make the most of the situation by having your loved ones join in on your workouts. Adam D. Tucker aka “Vegas McGraw” was recently featured in my Hot Guys of Vegas column. His spot-on impersonation of Tim McGraw draws in fans from around the country. But it’s Adam’s bulging arms and gleaming pecs that earned him a spot in the segment.

Here, Adam uses his son Beau for added weight in a garage workout that’s as fun as it is effective.

Parent/child routines are a great way to establish habits that will last a lifetime. Of course, heading out to the sidewalk for some biking (or a stroll with the wagon) are perfect photo opportunities, too. So enjoy the eye candy and take to the streets (or the yard) to burn off those unwanted calories. Just remember to observe social distancing guidelines to protect yourself and your neighbors.

Musician Haini Wolfgramm is one of the founding members of The JETS, the phenomenal pop group from Tonga that swept the world. The JETS – The ’80s & ’90s Experience is an awesome concert event that you’ll want to enjoy over and over…once it returns to Planet Hollywood‘s V Theater, that is (read my full review HERE).

Haini is a fitness enthusiast who seemingly spends as much time at the gym as he does behind his guitar. Keeping those biceps pumped to the max has become a family experience, thanks to a backyard gym that’s getting everyone into shape and keeping them happy until the quarantine is lifted.

Wayne Skivington gets a special mention in the “family” category, too.  Young son Rowan is quickly following in his father’s footsteps with an athletic prowess that would make teenagers and grown men envious. Follow the Skivington’s father/son workouts on Instagram by clicking HERE.

We are all in this together. Let’s use this time to disconnect from society but reconnect at home. I’m going to be posting some in-home workouts ideas to do with your children. Have fun, it will mean more to them than you might think.

When a city is overflowing with professional entertainers, it’s not surprising that those who cover the scene can hold their own, too. Greenspun Media publisher Jamal Parker and gorgeous wife Mackenzie Marshall Parker (The Doll Factory) show how the family gets loose with this splendid TikTok dance:

Alberto del Campo is a longtime Sin City resident who’s performed in huge acrobatic productions like Le Reve, KA and now The Beatles LOVE. His two boys Alex and Zach have inherited dad’s athleticism. They’re also members of the LOVE cast.

Here, Alberto gathers his sons along with wife Genevieve for a fun roller-skate workout that they like to do poolside. You might find it to be a bit of a challenge, but for the energetic Del Campos, this is just another day. of fitness fun.

If you’re a newbie to roller blades or could use some help with brushing up on the basics, fear not. The magnetic and talented Del Campo boys have launched their own YouTube channel. Here’s one of their tutorials:

Dance As If Nobody’s Watching

Sure, the beach clubs are dried up for now and the nightspots have gone dark. But when ya gotta dance, ya gotta dance. Party people have been taking to their back yards, front yards, driveways, patios…and even the streets…in order to shake their groove thang.

Endia Abrante of ShowgirlArrivals.com is been streamlining her diet and using an E-Stim ab belt to keep things nice and tight for when the clubs reopen. Recently the entrepreneur/deejay/aerialist/duck rancher strapped on some rollerblades and donned a unicorn-themed onesie to blow off some steam.

Later came the glowsticks and a neon party costume to throw a solo virtual rave. Fortunately, her best friend Dusty Demetria was there to document the invitation-only affair. If you haven’t followed Endia’s outrageous Facebook page, you’re really missing out.

Bad boy Kris Davis is one of those guys who does what he wants when he wants to do it, and the name of the game is “fun”. The beefy host at Golden Nugget‘s Troy Liquor Bar was bitten by the dance bug a long time ago.

A veteran of Vegas male revues, Davis continues to move and groove whenever the mood hits him. A crowded market, the heart of the casino floor, or even the top level of a parking garage…when this big boy wants to dance, feel free to join him. Otherwise, get the heck out of the way.

Relentlessly funny magician James Michael aka the Redneck Magician has been posting a series of videos from his parking lot. No doubt the neighbors enjoy watching his antics from behind the protective glass of their windows. And you can catch his roller-disco antics by visiting his Facebook page. Then check out his show when Redneck Comedy Magic returns to The STRAT.

Remote-Access Class Action

Sexy celebrities like THOR’s Chris Hemsworth have been sharing online tips and virtual classes to get your body into superhero condition. In the spirit of giving, most of them are free.

Hi there all, during this period of self isolation and uncertainty, I am offering six weeks of my health and fitness program @Centrfit for FREE! Go to centr.com and sign-up.
Centr was founded to make health and happiness accessible to all, and I hope that this will make that access even easier during the current global health crisis.

– Chris Hemsworth

Here in Sin City, we’ve got several heroic figures who are donating their time, sharing their talents and generously giving you the shirt off their backs.

Pole-fitness enthusiast Alberto Del Campo (see above) was also featured in my Hot Guys of Vegas column. Since the COVID-19 quarantine went into effect, he’s been offering free online pole fitness classes via his Instagram page. Click HERE to follow Alberto and get in on the action.

Makenzie Fly and Colin Cahill are “Mak and the Cheese”…

Makenzie Fly is a respected performer and also a skilled instructor of yoga. Husband Colin Cahill filled me in on what they’re up to in the days ahead:

Kenzie’s teaching live yoga class Monday on Instagram (click here for her page), and probably Facebook too if we can figure out how to stream both simultaneously. When it comes to our exercise for this it’s been primarily bodyweight workouts in the living room, running stairs in our apartment, yoga, and lifting heavy foods from the fridge to our faces. I’ve got those resistance bands you posted about a while back shipping to us currently.

But honestly, it’s been a huge struggle to try to stay active. I’ve definitely been putting on the poundage this past week so we started hitting the workouts hard this week. Our new song “Quarantine 15” more accurately represents our fitness journey since the shutdown.

Makenzie also has a YouTube channel to help you get started in the world of yoga. Here’s the intro to her video series:

For all people curious about yoga! This channel is meant to be a no-excuses platform. Got 5 minutes? Let’s practice. It’s not meant to be perfect. Don’t think, just do. Anytime, any place!

Until very recently, MaKenzie shared the Sex Tips stage with handsome “Hot Guys of Vegas” recipient Shyllon Melatti (read his Vegas Unfiltered profile right HERE). While the actor/singer/dancer/model prepares for a juicy new role (I’m sworn to secrecy) he and his partner have used the quarantine downtime to raise an adorable rescue kitten named “Merlot”.

And while being a pet parent can be physically exhausting at times, it takes more than a sprinkle of catnip to keep Shyllon’s stunning torso in check. You can find out how he does it by joining a live workout on Instagram. The session takes place Saturday 4/11 at 9am PST. The full-boy workout requires no equipment and is free. Click HERE to participate.

Screenshot_20200404-212510_Instagram

Be sure to keep plenty of water and a towel handy, because “Master Melatti” knows how to make you sweat.

The stunning acrobatic couple of Mary Wolfe and Tyce Nielsen is professionally known as Duo Transcend. The America’s Got Talent favorites had just signed on to join CELESTIA at The STRAT when COVID-19 rolled into town, shutting down every show on the Strip.

92169090_104864627846132_7626116709274877952_o

While waiting to finally live their dream of a Vegas gig, Duo Transcend has been hard at work on…working out. They’re teaching live classes via the ZOOM app and have posted 30-minute no-equipment workouts that you can access right here:

If you or any of your Vegas friends are offering online fitness tips or classes, send an email to Sam@VegasUnfiltered.blog and I’ll be sure to update this article with the information. Be smart, be safe, and be strong.

Hot Guys of Vegas: Shyllon Melatti

Sin City native is the latest cast member to sizzle at CHIPPENDALES…

Stop it. Just stop it! We mere mortals can only handle so much sex appeal on one stage. Blame the people at Chippendales for raising body temps…and maybe even contributing to global climate change. But here we are once more with another absurdly sexy cast member…and this time his name is Shyllon Melatti.

Screenshot 2020-01-15 at 9.40.34 AM.png

If you’ve seen the outrageous adult comedy “Sex Tips” at Paris Hotel, you’ve probaby already experienced plenty of Shyllon as “Stefan”. He joined a cast of handsome pleasures like Jai Rodriguez, Douglas Katch Gray, Mark Gregory Melton, and Louis D’Aprile, who all portrayed the wacky sex advisor “Dan Anderson”. There have been gorgeous ladies like Kendra Wilkinson, Katie Kenner, and the current MaKenzie Fly as tightly-wound “Miss Brown”.

71189493_10220513410450972_5249317335637950464_n.jpg

But it’s the character of ‘Stefan’ that has the most….er…”exposure” in this modern retelling of “My Fair Lady”. The hunky and linguistically-challenged stud earns a living as the lecture’s lights-and-sound tech. But when the moment arises, he’s called upon by Dan to strip down for a variety of demonstrations. The immigrant protests, of course (“Stefan is not stripper. I am scientist!”). That is until audience reaction sways him into a boom-chicka-wow-wow frame of mind.

Previous cast members Chris Hodgson, George Blick, and Colin Cahill have given their all for awesome interpretations of “Stefan”…and each has been featured in this column (for obvious reasons). Then the role went to our title man Shyllon Melatti. I was fortunate to be in the audience for Shyllon’s premiere performance. The gasps when he disrobed rippled through the audience…much like his stunning abs (see what I did there?).

Screenshot 2020-01-15 at 9.30.03 AM

Shyllon is represented by TNG Models right here in Las Vegas. The six-foot hunk boasts a 40-inch chest, chiseled 32-inch waist, brown hair, and brown eyes. His distinctive scruff is even more appealing when he slips on a pair of eyeglasses. But you’ll be wanting Shyllon (rhymes with “nylon”) to slip out of those designer outfits and into something a lot less confining.

A self-described goofball, the Las Vegas native has appeared as the handsome lead in films like Goodbye (2011) and Hooked (2012). Athletic and adventurous, Shyllon loves the outdoors as much as he adores dogs and cats. Rock climbing, snow skiing, bicycling, camping, and diving into a waterfall…they’re all just a normal day for Mr. Melatti.

Much like his character, Shyllon is as academic as he is attractive. The UNLV graduate earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and lists himself as Executive Assistant at Daniel Franzese Entertainment. Previously a brand ambassador for Rockstar Energy Drink, he was once a lifeguard at Mandalay Bay’s DAYLIGHT BEACH CLUB (swoon).

Screenshot 2020-01-15 at 9.39.52 AM.png

Shyllon’s dabbled in the music industry at Lava Records and done charitable work through Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada (RTSNV) and as a Big Brother for Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada. And did I mention that he loves cats? (yeah, that one is worth mentioning twice).

Screenshot 2020-01-15 at 11.38.54 AM

74466049_10220961839661422_4700296163021029376_n

Sex Tips was Shyllon’s first role in a live stage production, and he clearly made quite an impression. In the early part of this year, his role was re-acquired by George Blick so that Shyllon could take on hosting duties at Chippendales. Alas, the pandemic shutdown had other plans.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

So for the time being, Shyllon and the rest of the Chippendales cast are up for grabs via Chippendales@Home. You and your friends can book a personal online party with the boys. Dance, chat, play naughty games and more. Check out my article right here for all the details.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

If you absolutely MUST see this hunk in person right away, Mr. Melatti is flaunting his biceps while pouring drinks at brand new The Garden. The swanky, stylish restaurant/lounge just opened in downtown’s Arts District and is spearheaded by nightlife impresario Eduardo Cordova. Click this link to learn more about The Garden. Then make reservations to spend the evening with Shyllon and his steamy colleagues.

While I can’t guarantee that Shyllon will take off his shirt for you from behind the bar, he just might flash his abs if you buy a round of shots. And you can always request a personal Chippendales Cameo message from him before he returns to the stage at Rio Las Vegas sometime soon.

Vegas Comes Together for Australian Relief Event

The world supported us when we were under siege. Now is our turn to return the love. ‘SHOW UP FOR DOWN UNDER’ assembles a stellar cast for Australian wildfire disaster aid show and fundraiser…

safe_image (1)

You’ve seen the heart-wrenching headlines. Looked at the horrifying photos. Covered your ears at the devastating statistics. All of the loss being endured by our brothers, sisters, and wildlife in Australia is almost too much to grasp. Thankfully, we can channel those feelings of helplessness into action and provide much-needed aid to the people and animals of Australia.

sketchyloala0801a

All proceeds from this concert event will go to Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors established by Steve and Terri Irwin

As you might remember, I penned this article detailing the unique bond shared between the Las Vegas community and the Land Down Under. So many of their citizens call this city “home” and provide us with joy through their endless talents. From the casts of Human Nature and Australian Bee Gees to the men of Aussie Heat and Thunder from Down Under, the Strip is alive with the people from Oz.

Now’s the time for us to give back. On January 28th at 8:30pm, THE SPACE will be hosting SHOW UP FOR DOWN UNDER, a fundraising show and event featuring a stunning array of entertainers. Here’s the official press release:

Given the catastrophic bushfires in Australia right now, Australian entertainers living in Las Vegas could not stand by idly while watching their beloved country suffer. True-blue Aussie spirit is alive and well in Las Vegas. With the incredible support from the entire local entertainment community, an exciting evening of song, dance, and sausage sizzling has been scheduled to raise much-needed funds and awareness.

Australian expats/Las Vegas performers Steve Judkins (Mayfair Supper Club & Mamma Mia), Sasha Judkins (Chicago & Mamma Mia), and Jessica Lane (Jubilee! Principal Dancer) are producing and coordinating this Vegas A-list charity event. Las Vegas Strip headliners Human Nature, Australian Bee Gees, Aussie Heat, and Tenors of Rock will provide top-notch entertainment.

Special appearances will be made by comedian/celebrity impersonator John DiDomenico, Australia’s Got Talent “PiP Comic Illusionist,” and Jubilee Showgirls. Anne Martinez (Baz & Fantasy), Shai Yammanee (Jubilee! & Mamma Mia Broadway Tour), Valerie Witherspoon Knecht (FRIENDS! The Musical & Cocktail Cabaret), Kelly Anne Williams (House of Blues & Les Mis West End), and Justin Michael Rodriguez (ExtremeLive) are only a few of Las Vegas’ finest performers who are lending their extraordinary voices to this cause. Entertainer/philanthropist Mark Shunock has graciously donated use of The Space for this upcoming benefit concert.

All proceeds from this benefit concert will go to Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors. Established in 2002 by Steve and Terri Irwin, The Wildlife Hospital has treated over 90,000 animals. Their mission is to protect and care for injured, threatened, or endangered wildlife. However, with extreme drought, human impact, and wildfires, the hospital is only getting busier and busier. They now must rapidly expand field services in response to the current bushfire crisis to provide emergency supplies and medical caregivers for animals that cannot be transported.

2019 – The Year in Review: Entertainment Highs and Lows

Taking a look back at the best, worst and notable in production shows of 2019….

As in recent years, the Las Vegas entertainment arena of 2019 was volatile, to say the least. Some headliners soared while others became a blip. Expensive new productions were met with skepticism or downright disdain. And still, those rotten brown logs known as Terry Fator, Mariah Carey, and Criss Angel continued to float in toilets of their own making.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the more notable examples of Sin City’s troubling trends in 2019 – The Year in Review: Entertainment Highs and Lows.

BEST NEW SHOW – Atomic Saloon Show at Venetian/Palazzo

AtomicSaloonShow7

Spiegelworld hits and scores once more with Atomic Saloon Show. A bawdy in-your-face Wild West romp with hookers, cowboys, a horny minister, and his pair of twisted nuns, Atomic Saloon Show tosses the high points of Absinthe and Opium into a blender and pours out a perfect cocktail. Cast members Colin Cahill and Davide Zongoli receive bonus points for pushing the “hotness scale” to ten but the entire cast is uniformly excellent.

Runners Up: Blanc de Blanc, Blond Invasion, Fuerza Bruta, Hans Klok

WORST NEW SHOW – R.U.N at Luxor

R.U.N For The Exit – Cirque du Soleil’s Latest is an EPIC DISASTER

Cirque du Soleil has definitely had their heyday on the Strip but they’ve swiftly fallen down the scale in terms of must-do entertainment. The famed acrobatic troupe somehow survived a nauseating ten years of BeLIEve/Mindfreak Live, Criss Angel’s abominable slop fest at Luxor. Then they replaced it with something far worse (how that’s even possible is a question for the ages).

20191116_182132

Nothing can prepare you for the awfulness of R.U.N (read my full review here). No matter how much you may be warned in advance, you’ll still leave feeling nauseated, perplexed, violated, repulsed and suffering from a throbbing headache.

When the company behind such beloved productions as Mystere and The Beatles LOVE pukes out a furball of this magnitude, there really is no way to recover. R.U.N will go down in the history books as one of the worst shows that Las Vegas has ever seen. And this is the city where Nudes On Ice was born.

Runner Up – Criss Angel Mindfreak Live at Planet Hollywood Same shit, same arrogant asshole, different theater. Enough said.

BIGGEST SURPRISE – Blond Invasion at V Theater

In a city filled with tribute shows, Blond Invasion (here’s my review) had no right to be this much fun. Spot-on impersonations of Britney Spears, Madonna, and Lady Gaga would already be entertaining, but mix in a quartet of hot male dancers, terrific choreography, spectacular costumes and live singing and you’ve got a perfect night out.  Things got even better when the trio came together for a once-in-a-lifetime medley that will sadly never happen in real life.

Screenshot 2019-12-21 at 12.49.21 PM.png

Swoon-worthy Adam D. Tucker as Tim McGraw in Vegas Gone Country

Unfortunately, Blond Invasion was one of two gems at V Theater that was never discovered by the audiences they deserved. Companion show Vegas Gone Country followed a similar formula and also suffered from anemic ticket sales. When the stars themselves have regular gigs a few blocks away, it seems that folks would rather pay more for the genuine article, no matter how lazy or rude they’ve become (I’m talking to you, Madonna). Which leads us to…

MAJOR HEADLINERS THAT SNORED AND SOARED –

2019 was the year that fans went gaga over Lady Gaga. With two simultaneous productions playing at Park MGM Theater, the Star Is Born actress wowed sold-out audiences with classy Piano Jazz on some nights and Enigma‘s full-scale psychedelic pop on others.

britneymental.jpg

Britney Spears imploded on a personal level…yet again…and her February residency at Park MGM was quickly canceled and forgotten. The official explanation was a concern for her father’s health, then later the pop tart claimed that daddy dearest had forced her into rehab. Whatever they claim, poor ticket sales were being reported right up to the cancellation. You can only move your lips and flap your arms so many times before audiences cry out “Enough already!”.

Janet Jackson quickly moved into the Brit-bot’s vacated slot but barely managed to make a squeak. It seems like most of her fans remained behind the velvet rope, waiting for something better. Maybe it was her silence regarding LEAVING NEVERLAND, the HBO documentary detailing brother Michael’s fascination with little boys, that kept them away.

Perhaps it was the tabloid-worthy marriage/pregnancy/birth/divorce to a Qatari billionaire. Or her conversion to the Islam faith accompanied by uncomfortable photos in traditional Muslim garb…or the fact that the weight-troubled former hitmaker had canceled a 2016 tour then kept the money from advance ticket sales (fans sued and won) that pushed them over the edge. Whatever the reason, don’t expect a return from the money-grubbing Rhythm Nation songstress anytime soon. Sorry, Miss Jackson, but you’re nasty.

Madonna-Las-Vegas-concert-1202815.jpg

Madonna turned out to be no lady for a trio of shows at Caesars Palace last month. Originally scheduled for 8;30 pm, the self-proclaimed diva pushed the start time to 10:30 pm after tickets were already sold, then had the nerve to show up three hours beyond THAT, going on stage way after midnight. Fans rebelled, hundreds of refunds were issued and of course, a lawsuit was filed by ticket buyers.

Arriving to a chorus of boos, Madonna remained unapologetic, saying “”There’s something that you all need to understand, and that is that a queen is never late.” Well, let’s hope this queen bitch tumbles from her throne and lands on her face. Maybe then she’ll finally get those teeth fixed and put that absurd eye patch to good use.

Shania Twain arrived late in the game for a series of shows at Zappos Theater, Planet Hollywood. Fans and non-fans alike gave the new production an enthusiastic thumbs-up with special mention to the energetic performance of its star…and some seriously steamy back-up dancers. Christina Aguilera and Gwen Stefani’s residencies in the same venue garnered a similar response.

Paula Abdul signed on for Flamingo‘s Donnie and Marie Theater and reviews have been decidedly mixed, leaning towards the negative. While I’ve yet to see the show (I was never a fan in the slightest, so she isn’t high on my list), those who have gone to it report that she lip-syncs the entire performance while being tossed around like a sack of potatoes.

PaulaAbdul.jpg

Since the one-time American Idol judge (oh, the irony of that) was always a horrible singer, perhaps her onstage fakery is a blessing in disguise. But who thought that Abdul was worthy of a residency, especially since her 2018 comeback tour crashed and burned? Apparently the thrifty folks at TravelZoo, where you can snag discounted tickets for as low as $49. Forever your girl, indeed.

Next year will see a residency by Kelly Clarkson that already promises to be a big hit. The initial response has been through the roof. If this seems like something you’d be interested in, snatch up your tix asap, or else you may be seeing Gaga-level resale prices very soon.

GONE AND FORGOTTEN – Gordie Brown

24991576_1520467888074688_7816197406626687680_n

Last year Gordie Brown was the unfortunate recipient of my “Saddest Career Path” award. Well, the new owners of Hooters Hotel Casino rebranded the place as OYO and quickly showed Mr. Brown the door. It certainly didn’t help that the one-time Venetian headliner slandered and criticized his own showroom and host hotel during performances, promising the audience that he’d rise again in a better place. Good luck with that, Gordie.

“THEY’RE STILL AROUND?” AWARD – Mariah Carey, Criss Angel, and Terry Fator

The unsinkable triad of Mariah Carey, Criss Angel, and Terry Fator is a log jam that just won’t flush. Maybe it’s just time to grab a plunger and force them down the drain. You already know my contempt for arrogant mouthpiece Mariah and douchebag Criss from last year’s summary. Those who’ve aligned themselves professionally with the faux-goth farce, in particular, have learned the hard way that they’ll eventually get stabbed in the back…and become a laughingstock in the eyes of colleagues. So the less said about them this time around, the better. Please, just go away.

TerryFator

Terry Fator is new to the list but deserves a placing nonetheless. His stale attempts at comedy were tired ten years ago but have grown exponentially stale, with the offensiveness amped up to levels that have garnered reactions from both audience members and host hotel Mirage.

While Fator presented himself on America’s Got Talent as an awe-shucks kind of guy, those in the know are aware of the real details of his scheming, shocking personal life. Fator has been accused of scandalous treatment and abandonment of first wife Melinda, a skeevy relationship with half-his-age employee/wife #2 Taylor Makakoa (he proposed to wife #3 right in front of #2 during a performance…while still married), lawsuits with former managers and a very bizarre background (including being raised in a cult). Then there’s that mysterious death of his estranged sister in his home and the lawsuit that his mother brought against him, fearing for her personal safety. You can’t make this shit up.

maxresdefault (12).jpg

Nothing says “Christmas” like your fist shoved deep inside a sexual predator doll…

The Mirage recently asked Fator to get rid of his controversial Donald Trump puppet “to avoid escalating the political divide in an already polarized country” as reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Then Gary Costa, Executive Director of LGBTQ/AIDS charity Golden Rainbow sent a complaint letter to protest the show’s slandering of minorities and gays. Here is Mr. Costa’s public post via Facebook:

A few months ago I attended this offensive show at The Mirage Hotel and Casino and was horrified at the blatant racist, transphobic and homophobic content of the Terry Fator show. I contacted the management of The MGM including their diversity manager to formally lodge a complaint. While removing the offensive Trump puppet is a start it isn’t enough.

Blatant discrimination and public ridicule of Latinos and trans and LGBTQ individuals has no place on the Las Vegas strip disguised as “entertainment”. As long as the MGM corporation continues to allow this man to spew his hate under the guise of “family comedy” I will continue to boycott their company and keep pressuring their management to remove this outdated performer from their property permanently. There are literally a dozen or so ventriloquist acts in Las Vegas that are funny, entertaining, talented and enjoyable to watch. Terry Fator unfortunately is NOT one of them

My husband and I had a similar reaction when attending Fator’s sorry excuse for a show. We actually left the performance early and went to Le Reve instead. The fact that Fator is regularly listed on Groupon for $45 may be a sign that the wild, freaky ride is finally coming to a close. Then again, this is the same hotel that shuttered the Terry Fator Store in favor of Kardashian Khaos Boutique, so who can say? In any case, I urge you to boycott this hateful and revolting man, along with his nasty excuse for “entertainment”.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT – The Fate of FUERZA BRUTA

The long-running international hit Fuerza Bruta had a chilly reception from Sin City patrons and was closed mere weeks into a proposed six-month run. A daring, innovative show, it should have been a slam-dunk on the Strip (see my review here). But Vegas audiences won’t buy tickets to something that isn’t a known quantity, much like at movie theaters, where sequels and reboots shove new ideas to the bottom of the box office tallies.

20190403_194932

Fuerza Bruta‘s quick shuttering inspired me to write what would turn out to be my most-read article of the year. If you haven’t taken the time to look at it, now would be a great opportunity. The in-depth piece analyzes the troubling future of the City of Entertainment and explains why so many shows have closed…and why others are on the chopping block.

BITTERSWEET FAREWELL – Jeff Civillico Closes After A Decade

78330693_10221060086877541_5842602058955358208_n.jpg

It’s a well-known secret within the industry that Vegas performers often head to other cities on their days off (or take a Vegas hiatus) to supplement high overhead (and dwindling sales) on the Strip. Entertainers like Jason Tenner (PURPLE REIGN), The Bronx Wanderers, Criss Angel, and even Terry Fator hop onto planes (or busses) to fill much larger venues with significantly lower overhead.

20191218_180422

Jeff Civillico has been extremely candid with me through the years regarding his difficulties with the “Four Wall” method of running shows. It’s a business model that puts the responsibility and cost of performing on the entertainers instead of the old way when casinos supported their productions. And it seems like Jeff has had enough of the current system.

15777114_10211636362210314_4995913120859970028_o.jpg

Last Wednesday was Civillico’s final Vegas performance after a decade that saw him in places ranging from guest gigs with magician Nathan Burton to his first stint at Planet Hollywood (the restaurant, not the hotel) to residencies at Imperial Palace/The Quad/Linq Hotel, Flamingo and the Anthony Cools Showroom at Paris.

Jeff will continue to perform at corporate gigs around the country while focusing more time at Win-Win Entertainment, which matches performers with not-for-profit organizations. As a fan and personal friend who has followed Jeff’s journey from very humble beginnings to his current achievements, I will miss this handsome hunk of joy.

RUNNER UP – The Naked Magicians

Screenshot 2019-06-15 at 7.50.13 PM

The cuddly, talented and adorable duo of Mike Tyler and Christopher Wayne enjoyed the prestige and opportunity (along with enthusiastic reviews like mine) to have their own Strip residency. Alas, the Naked Magicians experienced the same difficult reality that persuaded Jeff Civillico to say “I’m leaving Las Vegas”. Why fight an uphill battle when you can do financially better just about anywhere else in the world?

HOT GUYS OF VEGAS: New Boys In Town

Two new adult productions have brought an avalanche of fresh hunks to Sin City…

You may have seen my recent reviews on Spielgelworld’s ATOMIC SALOON SHOW at Venetian and BLANC DE BLANC at Sahara. Both productions are excellent and packed with amazing acrobatics, saucy wit and moments of lunacy. They’re also dripping with stripped-down musclemen who push the edge of titillation with their hot bodies and physical feats.

Let’s get cozy with a few of these boys and find out what they do to make our pulses soar. And we’ll start off with….

THE MEN OF SAHARA’S ‘BLANC DE BLANC’

BlancDeBlancHotGuys1

Gregory Romeo aka “Monsieur Romeo” – model/performer

GregoryRomeo2

Where you’ve seen him – Host of Blanc de Blanc, Armani ads

“Debonair” is the perfect word to describe Gregory Romeo. That’s the impression he slathered on me upon meeting at Sahara’s Blanc de Blanc Theater. Dripping with sensuality and purring “hello” in a delicious French greeting, Romeo strolled from table to table to welcome each guest. I barely allowed him to leave.

GregoryRomeo5.jpg

Clad in a striking tuxedo and clutching an ever-present flute of champagne, Monsieur Romeo (as he’s known in performance mode) made hearts flutter every moment he was on the stage. Things got even more intense when he stripped off his formal wear and slid into a bubbling jacuzzi for the show’s outrageous finale. Talk about popping your cork!

GregorRomeo4

Every facet of Monsieur Romeo oozes a delicious mixture of silliness and sensuality. Born in France and raised throughout Europe, this man of the arts finds joy in pushing social and cultural boundaries. An artist with a formal education in graphic design, Romeo mixes architecture, eroticism and fashion into his own signature style.

GregoryRomeo1

We can all learn from Romeo’s freedom of expression. Confident in his sexual appeal minus the ego, he uses his great looks, stunning physique and outrageous sense of humor to capture your attention. And once you take a look, you’re hooked.

GregoryRomeo3

Check out Gregory Romeo’s website to explore his amazing photographic work, both behind of and in front of the cameras. And get your butt to Sahara for Blanc de Blanc. Monsier Romeo is waiting there for you with a glass of bubbly…in a tub full of bubbles.

Noteworthy traits – velvety voice, muscles of granite

Hampus Jansson –  circus performer/model

HampusJannson7

Where you’ve seen him – Blanc de Blanc, Michael Jackson IMMORTAL TOUR

Stockholm’s loss is Sin City’s gain now that Hampus Jansson has arrived. This boyishly-handsome blonde athlete (full name Ulf Hampus Jannson) and his professional/life partner Milena Straczynski are now setting hearts afire in Las Vegas as the passionate aerialist duo of Blanc de Blanc.

HampusJannson6

Hampus has a boyish smile and innocent playfulness that make him wonderfully appealing. His tousled blonde hair and smooth flawless skin form the perfect contrast to a strong, athletic body that was created by endless hours of training and endurance.

HampusJansson1

Spinning through the air while holding his lady love, this muscular Adonis looks perfect on a romance-novel cover. He’s just as comfortable in family-friendly productions like Cirque du Soleil’s VEREKIA, DRALION and Michael Jackson: The IMMORTAL World Tour.

HampusJannson2

Great genetics are part of what makes Hampus an amazing entertainer. Father Ulf-Håkan Jansson came to fame in Sweden as an actor and puppeteer, imparting a love for theatrics to his children. Hampus originally planned on going into acting until the circus bug bit him. Sister Uuve, an award-winning trapeze artist, made her mark on Los Angeles in the cinema-themed IRIS by Cirque du Soleil.

HampusJannson3.png

Jannson came to the States awhile back and settled in nicely to the tropical feel of Miami Beach. Moving to Las Vegas this summer for Blanc de Blanc has been quite a big change. Nevertheless, the young hunk has been having fun, taking in the sights and learning about our partying ways here on the Strip.

HampusCollage (1).jpg

Hampus and Milena pop a cork at premiere of Blanc de Blanc…

With his disciplined lifestyle, a body that ripped and a face so innocent, it’s doubtful that Hampus often indulges in the excesses of Las Vegas. But as official emissaries of the city, it’s our duty to corrupt him. Or at least to try…

HampusJannson4.png

Noteworthy traits – youthful personality, manly physique

Danik Abishev – handstand athlete/acrobat/dancer

DanikAbishev6

Where you’ve seen him – LIMBO, Dubai’s LA PERLE, Circus Royale of Australia

Danik Abishev is truly a global performer. Born into a traditional Russian circus family, Danik began performing at the age of four. As part of the Soviet Union state circuses, he toured China and received the title of Honoured Artists of Russia.

DanikAbishev3.png

The family relocated to Brisbane in Queensland, Australia and Danik continued his worldwide domination of performance arts. After working with hip-hop group Tom Tom Crew in the Middle East and South America, the muscular athlete charmed the people of Oz in Australia’s Got Talent.

DanikAbishev4.png

Then it was off to Dubai’s Al Habtoor City to perform in La Perle, a new show created by Franco Dragone. Vegas audiences know Dragone from the hit shows O and Le Reve, so of course the Sin City bug was eventually bound to bite Abishev in his well-shaped arse, too.

DanikAbishev5

As part of Blanc de Blanc, Danik struts, strips and wows audiences with an inverted handstand act that has the audience gasping, screaming and standing up to applaud. The finale features the diminutive hunk literally soaring over the audience and plunging down to their tables in a mind-bending sway pole climax. Nice of you to drop in, Danik!

DankAbishev1.jpg

Noteworthy traits – short in stature, long on sex appeal

THE MEN OF Spiegelworld’s ‘ATOMIC SALOON SHOW’

20190921_185958

The boys of Blanc de Blanc are pretty open about their identities and bios. At Spiegelworld, not so much. The upstart (and wildly successful) challenger to Cirque du Soleil‘s throne is quite invested in the reality of their characters. They’d have you believe that “The Gazillionaire” of ABSINTHE and OPIUM‘s cast of inter-planetary travelers are genuine people…and that’s part of their unique charm.

Now that ATOMIC SALOON SHOW has opened at Venetian to awesome reviews, Vegas has another collection of wacky “citizens” to welcome. But a little journalistic know-how has uncovered the identities and backgrounds of a few of Boozy Skunkton’s wild-west friends.

Or have I been hoodwinked with some fake bios put out there to throw me off???? It doesn’t matter….fact or fiction, they’re all hot as Hell! So let’s take a closer look at the hunks who hang out at Boozy’s Saloon, shall we?

“The Mayor” (Pavel Stankevych) – handstand athlete

PavelStankevych3

Where you’ve seen him – Mayor in ‘Atomic Saloon Show’ at Venetian

Effective leaders throughout history have been the ones who handle themselves with grace and elegance. As the “Mayor” of Atomic Saloon’s dusty town, Pavel Stankevych does so in spades. With his ability to defy gravity and bend backwards to a frightening degree, you may find yourself wondering if this prime specimen is indeed human. But I assure you…Speigelworld’s latest superlative slab of human flesh is the real deal.

PavelStankevych1.jpg

Musclemania.com reported on Instagram nearly four years ago that Pavel was from the Czech Republic. The illusive hunk stepped in to identify his origins as Ukranian, but perhaps they got the rest of the details right. Who knows?

Czech circus performer Pavel Stankevych has a bodybuilder’s physique with extreme calisthenics skills. The 6’2″, 185 lbs., athlete says he’s considering pursuing natural bodybuilding and competing this season.

PavelStankevych1

Beyond that description, good luck learning more about the ever-shirtless “Mayor”. In a cast stacked to the max with chiseled abs, bulging arms and massive pecs, Pavel still manages to elicit audible gasps from men and women alike.

AtomicSaloonShow_4-1 (1).jpg

When he strips off his formal wear for upside-down feats of balance and strength, even Boozy Skunkton (proprietor of the titular Saloon) can’t help commenting with envy on the size of his bulging chest. No doubt the working girls in Boozy’s upstairs brothel would benefit from His Honor’s amazing flexibility…and the size of his ample bosom as well.

PavelStankevych4

Noteworthy traits – superhero powers, secret identity, giant pecs…

The Abdominal Outlaw (Davide Zongoli) – dancer/aerialist/acrobat

Davide1.png

Where you’ve seen him – ‘Atomic Saloon Show’ at Venetian, Norwegian Cruises

71049397_10158349177618475_4727493888804126720_n

Regular readers of this column know that I also freelance for BestOfVegas.com. Jena Pugh, my colleague from that site, had this to say about our next hottie:

The Abdominal Outlaw is the Italian stallion “infamous around the world for hold-ups, push-ups, sit-ups, and for stealing hearts wherever he goes.” Prior to being cast in the ATOMIC SALOON SHOW, the acrobat has been caught performing his jaw-dropping acrobatics in circuses across Europe, as master of the aerial pole, and was a 2018 finalist on Spain’s Got Talent. And as if that wasn’t impressive enough, The Abdominal Outlaw is also a swimwear and underwear model with more than 300,000 Instagram followers. If you follow him, you’ll understand how he got his moniker.

DavideZongoli1

You can read Jena’s full article by clicking HERE. But if you’re the type who prefers to just drool over photos, Davide’s Instagram page is indeed an epic collection of erotic moments frozen in time. Playful, titillating and infused with humor, this handsome devil lets his body do the talking. And oh, what a message it is….

Davide1

Of course, nothing compares to seeing this sensational athlete performing in all of his stripped-down glory. Featured in two solo numbers as well as several ensemble sequences, the Abdominal Outlaw manages to stand out in a cast of amazing characters.

While “The Mayor” is shrouded in secrecy, “Abdominal Outlaw” has been quite forthcoming with the media. In fact, you might find a full-fledged profile of this new Vegas resident in an upcoming column. Stay tuned…

Zongoli2

Noteworthy traits – wild mane of hair, wilder sense of eroticism…

“Blue Jackson the Singing Cowboy” – identity uncertain

68496065_10214278714774217_8129056078261387264_n (1)

There’s a persistent rumor spinning throughout Vegas that “Blue Jackson”, the adorable guitar-toting cowpoke of Atomic Saloon Show, is actually Vegas performer Colin Cahill. The evidence I’ve uncovered seems to suggest otherwise, as Spiegelworld’s social media clearly shows Mr. Jackson at rehearsals for Atomic Saloon Show in Edinburgh, Scotland this past summer.

37014743_10211864757746800_8382530286268710912_n

Mr. Cahill would certainly have no time for nightly performances at Venetian‘s newest hit anyway. He’s already dazzling audiences on a regular basis at charity-driven Mondays Dark and popular Kenny Davidsen’s Bow Tie Cabaret at Tuscany Resort. Cahill’s also known to pinch-hit for singers in Tenors of Rock and The Bronx Wanderers as well as his stint as “Stefan” in ” Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man“.

69881054_10214468403556318_8322660684135399424_n

A seasoned veteran of Sin City entertainment, Cahill has shown off his acting, singing and dancing chops in a variety of productions like Tournament of Kings and the Jeff Timmons-fronted male revue Men of the Strip. So how in the world would this strapping hunk have time to portray a hick with a penchant for naughty lyrics and cornball humor?

71761046_10156734813674422_8337346556004925440_n

Besides all that, Colin quite simply cannot be “Blue Jackson” because that silly feller wears shirts…and our local boy doesn’t. It’s been told that the good-hearted young man who jokingly calls himself “the hairless Bigfoot” once donated all of his shirts to a charity for needy gentlemen…and hasn’t slipped one on since. All the better to see your stunning abs, my dear.

The next time this writer attends Sex Tips, I may have to ask actress MaKenzie Fly to clear up the “Mystery of Blue Jackson”. After all, she’s married to Colin and the couple doesn’t seem to be the type to hang out at dusty old brothels. Then again, this is Vegas, where anything is possible.

55622710_10213411116564804_2462507009396703232_n

Noteworthy traits – innocent grin, bedroom eyes, abs for days….

“Jean Louis” (Jérôme Simard) – aerialist/dance trapeze

JeromeSimard6

Where you’ve seen him – Les Ailes du Desir, École nationale de cirque

Pity poor “Jean-Louis”, the youngest cast member of Atomic Saloon Show. The strapping immigrant came to the wild west with high hopes and big dreams. Alas, he found himself in the thankless position of janitor/handyman/stable boy to “Boozy Skunkton” at her brothel/hotel/saloon.

JeromeSimard5.jpg

Torn between a chaste life and the charms of working girl “Sweet Cheeks”, the handsome lad with curly locks and a French accent gives into his carnal desires and makes plans to run away with his girl. Alas, the only time they can share a moment together is during a romantic aerial straps duo.

Uncovering the personal details of performer Jerome Simard is harder that the whiskey bottles that get smashed over heads during the show’s uproarious climax. After a fair amount of digging I can confirm that Jerome has been a guest instructor at Miami’s prestigious Les Ailes du Desir Circus School, where Blanc de Blanc hunk Hampus Jannson (above) once taught.

JeromeSimard1

Jérôme is also listed as a graduate of Montreal National Circus School and has been affiliated with Zen Arts, a Los Angeles-based talent agency. Although he’s been spotted checking out other Vegas saloons with the Abdominal Outlaw in his free time, Simard’s birthplace and personal life remain a mystery. But his body of work….and shredded physique…may tell you all you need to know about this airborne artist.

ZongoliSimard1

Myself with “Abdominal Outlaw” and “Jean Louis” during Halloween…

Noteworthy traits – shy demeanor, luscious locks, gentle voice…

Breaking news: Roman Mokrenko (below) has joined the cast of Atomic Saloon Show, swinging in the role of “Jean Louis” on select nights. Read about the former aerialist of CELESTIA in my profile article HERE.
