From Mormon to Male Revue: One Man’s Evolution, Vegas-style

Chippendales performer Ryan Worley’s solitary road to redemption…

Sin City’s adult production shows have been around for decades. In other cities, sexy performers might be viewed with a certain disdain, but here they are regarded with a unique reverence.

The showgirls of Jubilee! and Folies Bergere will always be iconic. The men of Aussie Heat are genuine bonafide trained dancers of impressive skill. The ladies of SEXXY and FANTASY work hard for the money. And then there are the Chippendales…a macho, muscular troupe whose name is synonymous with classy male entertainment.

In a recent article I called the men of Chippendales “Shirtless Angels of Charity“. They do indeed spend plenty of time contributing wonderful work for the Las Vegas community. But first and foremost, they’re a hunky bunch of guys who grind out sets in the gym before bumping and grinding onstage.

Twenty-seven year old Ryan Worley never imagined that one day he’d be taking off his clothes for a paying audience. Raised within the strict guidelines and culture of the Church of Latter Day Saints, Worley was as far from Chippendales stock as one could imagine.

Yet we don’t always know what’s around the corner or lies over the horizon. And Ryan’s life so far has been anything but predictable.

I was born in California on August 6th, 1990 and am the second oldest of four kids. We were raised in the Mormon religion and devoted to the church. After high school I was dating a girl who was not a Mormon…and being with her made me not want to serve my two-year mission.

Not volunteering for missionary work is very frowned upon within the culture. People will go as far as to shunning you for it…and that was the case for me.

Instead, I went to college at Brigham Young University in Idaho. This is a Mormon school and they have three campuses (Provo, Utah is the largest and most popular). I completed three semesters there and eventually transferred to Utah Valley University.

While attending Utah Valley University, Ryan lived with a friend whose father was a Mormon Bishop. It was clear that, despite avoiding missionary service and not being very active any longer, his exposure to the Latter Day Saints Movement was deeply entrenched in every aspect of his life.

At the age of twenty, Worley was attracted to a fellow employee at the pizza parlor where he moonlighted. This young lady was active in the Mormon church and got Ryan to attend again. After dating for two years the couple got married…but their romance was short-lived.

Someone once told me when we first married that the number one cause of divorce is unmet expectations…a sentence which resonated inside me. That’s when I got into fitness. The gym became my sanctuary and a place where I could let go.

Throwing himself into the lifestyle of intense fitness was very therapeutic. While building his body, Ryan acquired a new level of self-esteem which was critical in this period. The change to his physique was astounding. Still, it wasn’t enough to mend the difficulties with his bride.

I told her that I wanted a divorce and she didn’t put up much of a fight. We sold our house and she went back to southern California…I moved north to the Salt Lake City area.

Ryan dove head-first into the fitness industry, serving as a Fitness Nutrition Specialist for a company called Complete Nutrition. While adjusting to a newly-single life in his small apartment, he was helping others get their own lives back on track. Knowing how to design customized meal plans for clients was invaluable when Worley planned to enter his first bodybuilding competition.

Spending hours at home on his stationary bike, Ryan discovered the documentary The Perfect Physique on Netflix (readers may recall that I covered the red-carpet premiere of this film at Palms Casino during the 2015 Mr. Olympia).

Ever since I got into fitness I’d wanted to do modeling and end up on a cover of a magazine. TJ Hoban, who is a well-known fitness model, was talking in the film about the difficulties he’d faced, like when he had a serious onstage accident during a Chippendales performance back in the 90’s.

I’d heard about Chippendales before but didn’t know exactly what it was or what it entailed. What I did know was that if my idol TJ Hoban was part of it, then it must be something great.

I went online and immediately filled out an application, submitted a few pictures and told a little about myself…but I never actually expected to hear back from them.

Even though his own performance experience was limited to a small Mormon singing/dancing group, Ryan was bursting with excitement…and hope. After applying, he joked with his Complete Nutrition employer that if Chippendales hired him he’d need to give notice.

Two weeks later, an email arrived from the show’s General Manager for an invitation-only audition:

I needed to rent a car for the drive from Utah to Vegas because my own was so crappy. Nobody knew about the audition. When I arrived early in the day, it was straight to the gym to pump up and look my best.

I was one of about fifteen guys there…and they all looked incredible. Kristen Makhathini (the show’s General Manager at the time) led the audition and had us take our shirts off for head shots.

We got on stage and began learning choreography. This was all very new to me. After about ten minutes, they split us into groups and mine was first. We ran through the routine a couple of times, then Kristen said “Alright guys, we are going to start cutting people so if you hear your name we don’t need you anymore and thank you for coming out”. The next sentence made my stomach drop: “Everyone in the first group except for Ryan can go home. Thank you”.

These other guys had flown in from all over the world and it was over for them in less than twenty minutes! My heart was beating out of my chest! They narrowed us down to four of us and said we’d know in a week. There were two spots, one for touring and another for the Vegas show. The tour manager came up to me and asked if I was able to get a passport. “I think I want to steal you for the tour” she said.

My mind went crazy…why did she just say “steal”? Did that mean I got the Vegas spot? That evening I watched the show for the first time, drove back to Utah overnight and never told anyone about it.

When the call came that he’d be a part of the Vegas production, it was time to shock his boss with the news of what he’d done…and to give that resignation notice they’d kidded about.

Along with this sudden change in his life’s course was the realization that he’d be stirring up controversy with his conservative friends and family.

When I asked him what kind of reactions he received after telling people about Chippendales, Ryan sighed and took a moment to collect his thoughts. He was reluctant to slam the culture he’d been a part of for so long, but felt that he’d somehow broken free of someone else’s control and was ready to speak out about it.

My family has had a rough time with my new career but I knew they probably would. They don’t fully understand it or know what it is.

I’m no longer a member of the Mormon church but my friends and loved ones are and I want to respect that. I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, but the truth is that they teach you to be close-minded. I remember how my siblings and I were treated after our parents divorced. We sat in the back of the church, alone, like outcasts among our own people.

Mormons have their own stance on issues and you have to accept them as yours. When I grew up, I found myself asking “Are these values mine because I’m naturally a good person or were they were taught to me by the church?. Even now I’m not sure, but my mom did bring me up to be a respectful man.

Worley went on to discuss things about the Mormon culture that still concern him. Matters like their unequal treatment of minorities and the LGBTQ community. He feels that’s why a lot of Americans are now leaving the church…and why it currently targets impressionable third-world countries.

But now that he’s found a new “family” with his Chippendales brothers and their socially-positive work, Ryan Worley is ready to move forward and continue making things better for himself…and others.

I’ve been a Chippendale for almost a year now and love everything it has to offer. I get to do charity work in the community and appear on numerous TV shows. It feels like my years of struggle are over. This is my big break…I go to work and people cheer for me!

I reached out to TJ Hoban and Kandice King (directer of The Perfect Physique), told them my story and how much that documentary changed my life. They seemed very happy to have helped make my life a little better.

After interviewing Ryan for this piece, I attended a performance of Chippendales at the Rio. Sitting in front of me, right up against the stage, was a group of his buddies. They’d come to Vegas to see for themselves what their longtime friend was now a part of. And they cheered just as wildly as everyone else in the audience.

Watching Ryan’s friends gather around him in the lounge after the show was a thrill to witness and experience. This young man had finally gained confidence and acceptance from his peers. And he’d done it on his own terms.

“I’ve always felt like I was meant for big things and want to influence people in a positive way. Maybe my story can do the same for others”.

Since the original publication of this article. Ryan Worley has fulfilled a number of goals and dreams. On 4/20/19 he competed in the Jay Cutler Desert Classic. The event was held at Tropicana Hotel Casino, where Ryan placed third in the Men’s Classic Physique True Novice category and second in Class C. He also became the 2020 cover man of the famous Chippendales calendar, a lifetime goal for fitness-centric men around the world.

Since then, the perpetually-driven young man has taken on a number of enterprises that focus on the physical and psychological needs of children and adults. Keeping busy during the temporary shuttering of Vegas entertainment has made it possible for him to remain positive and forward-thinking. He also became the father of two gorgeous kittens.

‘Quarantine Fitness’ With Sin City Celebs

Vegas performers and influencers share their tips for staying healthy while at home….

A strong body and clear mind both aid in warding off infection. They also help in reducing stress during these tenuous times, Nobody knows for certain how long the quarantine will last, but when restrictions are lifted, the stars of the Strip will need to be in top shape and ready for their first night back.

Vegas locals work hard to make your Vegas visit something worth treasuring. And just like you, they’re facing a lockdown that has not only put them out of work but confined their activities to the home. Spouses MaKenzie Fly (Sex Tips) and Colin Cahill (Atomic Saloon Show) have been working overtime to entertain everyone via their new page Mak and the Cheese. The world-famous hardbodies of Chippendales male revue were some of the first on the scene with online fitness tips. Profile recipient Ryan Worley caught the eye of TMZ for a pair of video tutorials that launched the Chippendales series. Using everyday objects like almond-milk jugs, pillows, and staircases, Worley demonstrates how to tighten your glutes and build upper-body strength.

Aided by Justin Timberlake’s “SexyBack”, towering hardbody Pat Tanksi shows how he stays limber and flexible. His handsome canine companion “Geno” donned a trademark collar and bowtie to join his dad for a set of slinky moves. You can expect more helpful videos from the men of Chippendales in the days ahead. Le Reve – The Dream at Wynn boasts a cast of 60 gorgeous guys and girls. They’re a stunning collection of athletes that dive, flip, sail through the air and dance on water. Muscular lead performer Alexander Stabler is known for his graceful movements, strong legs and world-class gluteal development. Here he keeps “dat ass” firm by performing squats in a driveway, using his partner in place of a squat rack. There’s also a breakdown of Alexander’s cross-fit plan, with weight provided by stone-filled backpacks.

The erotic side of Cirque du Soleil comes to life in ZUMANITY at New York NY. Longtime cast member Wayne Skivington (read his Vegas Unfiltered profile HERE) stays in top condition year-round, whether at the theatre’s training room or in his own home. Here he works up a sweat in the back yard, pounding a sledgehammer onto some concrete.

Westgate‘s Soul of Motown features a five-member cast with lush vocals and nonstop dancing. During the production’s hiatus, vocalist Brandon Godfrey has been featuring his “Quarantine Fitness” regime on Facebook. Regular physical activity keeps his body as tight as the show’s gorgeous harmonies.

Jennifer Romas shares the Westgate Cabaret with Soul of Motown‘s cast. Her successful SEXXY has performed hundreds of shows in the gorgeous space. The production’s creator and star continues to rehearse and will be ready to excite audiences when the doors reopen.

He’s also six feet four inch of power, energy and drive. But unlike the villainous character made famous by actor Dolph Lundgren, this resident of Henderson is kind, caring and funny!

Now an NFPT-accredited personal trainer, Gunnar hosts online fitness sessions. However, he prefers the one-on-one approach, where he can focus on the “personal” aspects of personal training. He’ll even do personalized visits in your home. Once an overweight young man with a goal to go “from zero to hero”, he’s transformed his own body and can do the same for you.

We’re always wishing to have more time with our families. Now that it’s here, you can make the most of the situation by having your loved ones join in on your workouts. Adam D. Tucker aka “Vegas McGraw” was recently featured in my Hot Guys of Vegas column. His spot-on impersonation of Tim McGraw draws in fans from around the country. But it’s Adam’s bulging arms and gleaming pecs that earned him a spot in the segment.

Here, Adam uses his son Beau for added weight in a garage workout that’s as fun as it is effective.

Parent/child routines are a great way to establish habits that will last a lifetime. Of course, heading out to the sidewalk for some biking (or a stroll with the wagon) are perfect photo opportunities, too. So enjoy the eye candy and take to the streets (or the yard) to burn off those unwanted calories. Just remember to observe social distancing guidelines to protect yourself and your neighbors.

Musician Haini Wolfgramm is one of the founding members of The JETS, the phenomenal pop group from Tonga that swept the world. The JETS – The ’80s & ’90s Experience is an awesome concert event that you’ll want to enjoy over and over…once it returns to Planet Hollywood‘s V Theater, that is (read my full review HERE).

Haini is a fitness enthusiast who seemingly spends as much time at the gym as he does behind his guitar. Keeping those biceps pumped to the max has become a family experience, thanks to a backyard gym that’s getting everyone into shape and keeping them happy until the quarantine is lifted.

Alberto del Campo is a longtime Sin City resident who’s performed in huge acrobatic productions like Le Reve, KA and now The Beatles LOVE. His two boys Alex and Zach have inherited dad’s athleticism. They’re also members of the LOVE cast.

Here, Alberto gathers his sons along with wife Genevieve for a fun roller-skate workout that they like to do poolside. You might find it to be a bit of a challenge, but for the energetic Del Campos, this is just another day. of fitness fun.

Dance As If Nobody’s Watching

Sure, the beach clubs are dried up for now and the nightspots have gone dark. But when ya gotta dance, ya gotta dance. Party people have been taking to their back yards, front yards, driveways, patios…and even the streets…in order to shake their groove thang.

Bad boy Kris Davis is one of those guys who does what he wants when he wants to do it, and the name of the game is “fun”. The beefy host at Golden Nugget‘s Troy Liquor Bar was bitten by the dance bug a long time ago.

Makenzie Fly and Colin Cahill are “Mak and the Cheese”…

Makenzie Fly is a respected performer and also a skilled instructor of yoga. Husband Colin Cahill filled me in on what they’re up to in the days ahead:

Kenzie’s teaching live yoga class Monday on Instagram (click here for her page), and probably Facebook too if we can figure out how to stream both simultaneously. When it comes to our exercise for this it’s been primarily bodyweight workouts in the living room, running stairs in our apartment, yoga, and lifting heavy foods from the fridge to our faces. I’ve got those resistance bands you posted about a while back shipping to us currently.

But honestly, it’s been a huge struggle to try to stay active. I’ve definitely been putting on the poundage this past week so we started hitting the workouts hard this week. Our new song “Quarantine 15” more accurately represents our fitness journey since the shutdown.

Until very recently, MaKenzie shared the Sex Tips stage with handsome “Hot Guys of Vegas” recipient Shyllon Melatti (read his Vegas Unfiltered profile right HERE). While the actor/singer/dancer/model prepares for a juicy new role (I’m sworn to secrecy) he and his partner have used the quarantine downtime to raise an adorable rescue kitten named “Merlot”.

And while being a pet parent can be physically exhausting at times, it takes more than a sprinkle of catnip to keep Shyllon’s stunning torso in check. The stunning acrobatic couple of Mary Wolfe and Tyce Nielsen is professionally known as Duo Transcend. The America’s Got Talent favorites had just signed on to join CELESTIA at The STRAT when COVID-19 rolled into town, shutting down every show on the Strip.

While waiting to finally live their dream of a Vegas gig, Duo Transcend has been hard at work on…working out. They’re teaching live classes via the ZOOM app and have posted 30-minute no-equipment workouts that you can access right here:

The latest round of sizzling hunks can’t seem to stay put…

What makes a guy “hot”? Is it their confidence? Perhaps their charm? For many, it’s a love for animals, and quite often the body language they exude. A winning smile, chiseled physique and the right clothes all make a man stand out from the crowd.

For this edition of ‘Hot Guys of Vegas’, we get close and comfy with active men who know how to show off their physiques and electrify a crowd. So let’s pop open a few buttons and get started with…

Adam D. Tucker aka “Vegas McGraw” – recording/tribute artist

Where You’ve Seen Him – “Country Superstars”, “Vegas Gone Country”

The amazing transformation of Tim McGraw from dad-bod handsome to super-chiseled sex idol sold countless issues of tabloid magazines. Dazzling tribute artist Adam D. Tucker has no problem keeping up with…and even exceeding…the Grammy-winning country artist when it comes to physiques.

Tucker can match the memorable vocals of McGraw, too. The Las Vegas-based entertainer may be a tribute artist, but he’s also an awesome singer in his own right. He’s recorded two solo albums in Nashville and has opened for superstars like Taylor Swift and Reba McEntire.

When he’s not performing with his band in concerts around the country, you can find Adam emceeing events, heating things up at modeling shoots or sharing his upbeat messages as a motivational speaker. The dedicated dad loves meeting people and makes each show a personal experience with post-performance photo ops.

All of that boundless energy can’t be contained by a few flimsy buttons, so don’t be surprised if Adam’s beefy chest and rippled abs make a gratuitous guest appearance. When Vegas McGraw takes to the mic, you’ll be singing “I like it, I love it, I want some more of it.” But good luck tracking him down, as he’s ALWAYS on the go. Here’s a typical day:

“This upcoming week Vegas to Florida back to Vegas then NASCAR followed by Cannery Casino performance. Just boarded my flight on Allegiant Air. As always these flights are tighter than my shirts. Some people talk about fitness and some actually live it. The best of these are people who share their knowledge and strive to motivate others that are on their own journeys. Through loss and rough times, Ivan Alex Cruz has had his share of depression. And his body fell far from where it is today.

Depression sucks. Losing someone close to you sucks. Watching yourself deteriorate in self-pity and remorse…Sucks (been there, done that). However, victory is always through the highest and hottest flames. If you’re going through hell… Keep going… Cause what comes after is priceless… Nothing can ever hurt you again… And even if it does… You’ve already walked through hell.

A loss in my family tore me down back in 2016, and I can finally say I got it back in 2019 💪 I feel the best I ever have. Fall down 7 times but make sure you stand up that 8th time because it is absolutely worth it. Never stop believing and never quit on your dreams.

Cruz got through his sadness, learned from the experience and began living with a fresh new attitude…one that he eagerly shares with others looking to do the same. With his 4 and 12-week programs, he provides dietary advice, workout plans and ways to stay positive. And a cheeky little book called “The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck” is high on his list of recommended reading.

While he’s super-serious when it comes to fitness and nutrition, Alex is a fun-loving guy. Swimming, hiking, traveling and spending time with family and loved ones are top priorities. That dazzling smile reveals a sly (and slightly dry) sense of humor that may surprise you. It might also explain his tendency to pose with donuts and fierce wild animals.

Last summer, the strapping stud joined the team at Iconic Nightclub and drew well-deserved gasps from patrons strolling in for a drink. Who wouldn’t want a signature cocktail hand-crafted and shaken by those arms? Let’s not even talk about his bartending uniform. Sigh…

Of all of the “Hot Guys of Vegas” columns this writer has penned, no entry has been more difficult to compose than this one. Why? Because Lee Richard Lucka defies categorization! That makes his inclusion in “Men On The Go” perfect since you never know where you’re going to find this dude.

I first met Lee while he was working the crowds as a host for Miracle Mile Shops V Theater a few years ago. Since then he has crisscrossed and zipped through the city like a high-tech drone on Red Bull. He’s always flying over/under the radar, behind the scenes and then suddenly right in front of you. You never know where Lee will land, but when he does, he always brightens up the room.

With piercing eyes, an alluring smile and brooding good looks, the former Chicago resident is a veritable people magnet. I’ve combed his social media pages at length trying to find more than a few solo pics of the handsome hunk…but there’s always someone wrapped around him, cheesing in the background or joining him for a hug.

That’s not to say that Lee’s life is all about fun. The Indiana-born hunk attended Columbia Chicago College and International Academy before becoming a top hairstylist in a prestigious Windy City salon. Despite his matinee-idol looks, Lee is quite humble and maybe even a little introverted:

Lame or not (I’m going with “not”), Lucka stands out in a crowd. That makes him a go-to model/brand ambassador for Best Agency, and he’s done similar work for private events on behalf of Destination by Design. And although he’s contributed his talents behind the scenes for productions like Vegas! The Show and Aussie Heat, the animal lover wouldn’t mind trying his hand at a major male revue like Chippendales. I for one would line up to see that!

Jason’s been a fixture at Senor Frog’s DRAG BRUNCH for several years. In fact, I couldn’t resist highlighting him in my original review of the outrageous entertainment gala. Here’s what I said back in 2016:

If you’re feeling a little insecure, the basic admission package includes unlimited mimosas, served by beefy masculine bartenders. That should help to loosen your inhibitions and prepare you for the wild ride ahead.

As usual, the strong silent types don’t have much of a social media presence, and Jason admits “I suck on Facebook”. But during a recent visit to the show/brunch, he guided me to his Instagram page, where he goes by the name of @Turbo50000. The account lists him as an owner of both Brickhouse Clothing and Luxe Tours.

Even though his private life is shrouded in secrecy, Jason proudly shows off photos of his background in football and competitive bodybuilding. He’s clearly got a thing for wild thrills, fast cars, faster motorcycles and the occasional 45-pound bag of protein powder. Because living the dream requires adrenaline, ambition…and a whole lotta muscle.

It should come as no surprise that the tougher the exterior, the more tender they are on the inside. Jason truly is a gentle soul who loves animals, children, and pretty ladies. So if your baby doll every gets kidnapped, you can count on Jason to launch a rescue operation, bust down the door and bring her safely back home. What a hero!

The men of Chippendales have always been trendsetting in the world of the male revues. Innovative and daring, they’ve raised the bar and set new standards for celebrity guest hosts, too. From Tony Dovolani and Nyle Dimarco (of Dancing with the Stars) to supermodel/actor Tyson Beckford…if they’re hot, you know that they’ll eventually be strapping on the signature collar, cuffs, and bowtie. After all, who could resist the appeal of the gold-standard Chippendales brand?

Hot Guys of Vegas: Shyllon Melatti

Sin City native is the latest cast member to sizzle at CHIPPENDALES…

Stop it. Just stop it! We mere mortals can only handle so much sex appeal on one stage. Blame the people at Chippendales for raising body temps…and maybe even contributing to global climate change. But here we are once more with another absurdly sexy cast member…and this time his name is Shyllon Melatti.

If you’ve seen the outrageous adult comedy “Sex Tips” at Paris Hotel, you’ve probaby already experienced plenty of Shyllon as “Stefan”. He joined a cast of handsome pleasures like Jai Rodriguez, Douglas Katch Gray, Mark Gregory Melton, and Louis D’Aprile, who all portrayed the wacky sex advisor “Dan Anderson”. There have been gorgeous ladies like Kendra Wilkinson, Katie Kenner, and the current MaKenzie Fly as tightly-wound “Miss Brown”.

But it’s the character of ‘Stefan’ that has the most….er…”exposure” in this modern retelling of “My Fair Lady”. The hunky and linguistically-challenged stud earns a living as the lecture’s lights-and-sound tech. But when the moment arises, he’s called upon by Dan to strip down for a variety of demonstrations. The immigrant protests, of course (“Stefan is not stripper. I am scientist!”). That is until audience reaction sways him into a boom-chicka-wow-wow frame of mind.

Previous cast members Chris Hodgson, George Blick, and Colin Cahill have given their all for awesome interpretations of “Stefan”…and each has been featured in this column (for obvious reasons). Then the role went to our title man Shyllon Melatti. I was fortunate to be in the audience for Shyllon’s premiere performance. The gasps when he disrobed rippled through the audience…much like his stunning abs (see what I did there?).

Shyllon is represented by TNG Models right here in Las Vegas. The six-foot hunk boasts a 40-inch chest, chiseled 32-inch waist, brown hair, and brown eyes. His distinctive scruff is even more appealing when he slips on a pair of eyeglasses. But you’ll be wanting Shyllon (rhymes with “nylon”) to slip out of those designer outfits and into something a lot less confining.

A self-described goofball, the Las Vegas native has appeared as the handsome lead in films like Goodbye (2011) and Hooked (2012). Athletic and adventurous, Shyllon loves the outdoors as much as he adores dogs and cats. Rock climbing, snow skiing, bicycling, camping, and diving into a waterfall…they’re all just a normal day for Mr. Melatti.

Much like his character, Shyllon is as academic as he is attractive. The UNLV graduate earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and lists himself as Executive Assistant at Daniel Franzese Entertainment. Previously a brand ambassador for Rockstar Energy Drink, he was once a lifeguard at Mandalay Bay’s DAYLIGHT BEACH CLUB (swoon).

Shyllon’s dabbled in the music industry at Lava Records and done charitable work through Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada (RTSNV) and as a Big Brother for Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada. And did I mention that he loves cats? (yeah, that one is worth mentioning twice).

Sex Tips was Shyllon’s first role in a live stage production, and he clearly made quite an impression. In the early part of this year, his role was re-acquired by George Blick so that Shyllon could take on hosting duties at Chippendales. Alas, the pandemic shutdown had other plans.

Look! Up In the Air! It’s Davide Zongoli aka ‘AcroDave’!

Sin City’s high-flying aerialist won’t be satisfied until you know his name…

“People think they know who I am…they don’t. ‘AcroDave’ is a character. ‘The Outlaw’ is a character. My name is Davide Zongoli.” So begins my conversation with Sin City’s newest aerialist/acrobat. And it’s one discussion that I won’t soon forget.

Davide may or may not be the “The Abdominal Outlaw”, the flamboyant flying cowboy who sails over the audience in a state of near-total nudity at Venetian’s Atomic Saloon Show. If that statement confuses you, click here to bring yourself up to speed.

As we settled in for drinks at a coffee shop on the city’s west side, I couldn’t help noticing the stares when Davide (pronounced DAH-vee-dah) unzipped his jacket and released his tight, beefy frame from captivity. A barely-there tank top did nothing to hide the Italian hunk’s extraordinary physique.

But even when fully clad, Mr. Zongoli strikes an imposing figure. With his thick flowing hair, carefully-manicured scruff and chiseled cheekbones, he’d turn heads in any environment…even in Las Vegas, where pretty people are “a dime a dozen”.

So what makes Davide Zongoli worthy of a profile article and heaps of praise from his 329,000 followers? Well, that’s an answer many years in the making, built on a foundation of adversity and determination. And everyone loves a success story achieved through hard work.

Prior to being cast in the ATOMIC SALOON SHOW, the acrobat has been caught performing his jaw-dropping acrobatics in circuses across Europe, as master of the aerial pole, and was a 2018 finalist on Spain’s Got Talent. And as if that wasn’t impressive enough, The Abdominal Outlaw is also a swimwear and underwear model with more than 300,000 Instagram followers. Long before Zongoli was the impressive specimen I saw before me on this sunny afternoon, he was a six-year-old boy suffering from scoliosis. As part of his treatment regime, doctors advised him to swim regularly. Taking an active part in his conditioning and therapy was something Davide became fully immersed in, so much so that he became a competitive swimmer until he was sixteen. This established a lifetime of discipline which segued into professional success in the world of dance.

After signing up for ballet, modern and contemporary classes at the urging of his friend, instructor Antonella Mita, the 17-year-old proved to be a natural. Within a year he had a contract to perform in Ivano Festival della Valle d’Itria and appeared in the televised musical “A Voice In The Sun” with popular Italian singer/actor Al Bano. In 2010 he was asked to participate in Leona Lewis‘s first international tour.

Despite demonstrating remarkable talent and aptitude, Davide faced resistance from nearly every direction. School instructors, peers, and even his family made it difficult for him to pursue what he loved (“Boys don’t dance!”). Bullied and pressured, he continued to learn the craft with the support of counterparts in the entertainment field. Zongoli’s parents had hoped for him to achieve a degree in law and initially resisted in supporting him, but eventually, they became strong allies too.

Perhaps it was the fact that dancing allowed him to appear on television with celebrities that won them over. Or touring the world in prestigious productions. Most likely it was the fact that their son was fully committed to being the best in his field. Whatever the reason, Zongoli was making his own rules and succeeding quite wonderfully at them. And he was thrilled that his parents were now attending his performances from Venice to Madrid.

As we were about to discuss his transition from dance to acrobatics, Davide’s phone rang. During the next few moments, I got to witness the qualities that made this performer worthy of being lured to Vegas from overseas. Sure, I’d already seen the stunning things he could do on stage and in the air…but what goes on behind the scenes is just as vital when you’ve reached this level.

It turns out that one of Zongoli’s fellow acrobats had been sidelined from an injury and would be out for a while. Davide was being summoned to the theater to cover that performer’s absence and to rework some transitions. “They want me to come in at three. I told them I’d be there at five. It will only take thirty minutes to fix this and it will be perfect”.

Witnessing his confidence, I fully believed that the evening’s show would be flawless. With all of his experience and previous gigs, situations like this one become routine. Still, I was shocked at his candor with the party on the other end of the line. “That was pretty gutsy” I gushed. Davide just laughed. But what some might view as arrogance is actually earned. “This is why they hire me. I’m good at what I do. I’m a professional and will take care of this. Nobody will realize that someone is missing”.

I asked Davide what the audition process was like for Atomic Saloon Show and once again he chuckled. “I don’t audition for parts. People can see what I do on the internet. It’s all there. If it’s something that I’m interested in, I send a video.”

For many Vegas performers, the genres of acrobatics, dance and competitive sports frequently intersect. This allows them to become more commercially attractive and useful in the field of entertainment. Davide found himself transitioning from traditional dancing into pole dancing, a talent that drew him national attention on Spain’s Got Talent. It’s also a skill that’s highly featured in Atomic Saloon Show.

As with swimming and dancing, Zongoli quickly took to pole dancing and once again rose to the top. From his bio:

In July 2011, Davide began practicing pole dance with Titty Tamantini (his coach) and within 3 months he had won the Italian National Championship, becoming the country’s first national male Italian pole dance champion. This enabled him to enter other high ranking prestigious competitions where he was a finalist: European Championships, International Pole Championships, World Pole Championships and World Pole Sport Championship.

He again won the Italian Pole Championship in 2012 and in 2013 and on September 29th he won the European Pole Sport Championship 2012 and the Silver Medalist at the 2013 World Pole Sports Championships.

At this point, our conversation bounced around from relationships (he’s single) to recreational activities (all I do is train, eat, work and sometimes go to Piranha), and of course, sexuality. Anyone who follows Zongoli’s Instagram page is aware that he’s a brazen, no-apologies member of the gay community. Then there’s OnlyFans, where he shows just about every asset. His stage character shares that bold sexuality, so I asked Davide if Spiegelworld had any concerns about his personal and social media activities.

“Not at all. They’re supportive of my ideas and they’re great to work with. They allowed me to be myself and even let me add in a kiss with _______ (I won’t spoil the surprise here). It was my idea to bring the nuns into my act, too. People love it and it works great.”

Considering the current, volatile state of live entertainment in Vegas, I wondered if Davide had fears about relocating here for a brand new show. “No. I already spent enough money to stay for a while. I have a car, furniture, an apartment. Five years is the plan. I can always get another job if I needed to, but I love my show and working for Spiegelworld.”

While Davide doesn’t necessarily have intentions of making Las Vegas a permanent home, he’s up for being flexible. “Where I came from, everything is within a few blocks. Your friends are all around you and everything you need is near. Here, you drive drive drive. Everyone knows each other but they’re over here, over there. But, you make plans and life changes them.” So…who knows?

Planning and self-awareness are traits that have allowed Zongoli to curate a perfectly polished image known as “AcroDave”. That’s the name he goes by on Instagram. Much more than a public display of selfies, the account represents another facet of his business, one that generates brand association and of course, income.

Davide may not have gotten that law degree, but he would have certainly excelled at marketing. As he explained it, every product, location or photographer he collaborates with is expected to have a similar or greater level of public presence. Every choice is one that can offer growth and a heightened degree of exposure. He’s currently a brand ambassador for both JJ Malibu and Andrew Christian undergarments and is about to launch his own line of clothing.

“I’m not a model. I’m not that tall and not that young. But I know how to look good in pictures.” Every photoshoot takes several days of planning. It’s unusual for a fitness/physique model to have body hair, but Davide said that Atomic Saloon Show wants that look for his character. So when a session is coming up, he’ll trim his body hair a few days beforehand, allowing time for any skin irritation to subside. Then he meticulously grooms and shapes it.

Nothing is left to chance when it comes to a photo shoot. Photographers must enter an agreement to immediately download a copy of each raw photo taken before he’ll leave the studio or location. Then Davide will retouch the final shots after they’ve already been edited by the photographer. “Those photos will be around forever. This won’t be” he says, pointing to a blemish on his bicep. “We get pimples. We have scars that will fade. I want everything to be perfect.”

Perfection is what sets apart the best from the rest. And scars, both emotional and physical, will indeed fade with time. But for performers like Davide Zongoli, who respect their craft and the audience that pays to see them, the impact of their talents will remain long after the final curtain falls.

When Iconic Nightclub opened its doors this summer, super-hot owner Adam Simmons promised a unique experience with great drinks, superior service and innovative entertainment, all at reasonable prices. Luckily, his well-trained staff is stunning to look at, too. There are dozens of hot ladies and gentlemen at Iconic to cater to your needs, from muscular security guards to sensual go-go dancers.

Since this column is called Hot Guys of Vegas, the lovely Iconic ladies will have to sit this one out (sorry, girls). But for those of you looking to add a little beefcake to your weekend diet, here are five of my favorite all-meat selections:

Stunning Nick came to the United States at the age of 18 to pursue an engineering scholarship. Born and raised on Borneo Island, he shares a hometown and handsome looks with Crazy Rich Asians actor Henry Golding. What they don’t share is Nick’s stunning physique, which is on ample display at Iconic Nightclub.

It’s okay to stare at Husin’s amazing chest and abs….he doesn’t mind one bit. It’s fair to say that he’s earned those admiring gazes with countless hours in the gym. He also follows a strict diet that sometimes includes a weakness for luscious cheesecake.

This exotic-looking stud holds the distinction of winning Mr. Muscle Beach men’s physique competition in Venice, California. Don’t you wish you could be a medal around his neck…or a trophy at his feet?

During the daylight hours, Nick flexes his intellectual muscles as a project manager for a software company. When not glued to the keyboard, he’s out in the sunshine with his four-legged pal Skippy, enjoying the rough terrain around the Las Vegas valley.

A smoothly-run bar operation is essential to the success of any nightclub. For guests at Iconic, the responsibility of beverage services falls on the broad shoulders of handsome Gerry Haro. This pinup-worthy pretty-boy is well known to the LGBTQ community and a veritable legend in Vegas gay nightlife.

It’s tough for a young man to make a name for himself in a city of this magnitude, especially hard when you grew up in a tiny central California town named Farmersville. But even at a young age, Gerry had the charisma, wisdom and looks to turn everything he attempted into gold.

With a face and body this striking, Gerry is a natural in front of the camera lens. Could a modeling career be around the corner? Only photographer Noel Dahl (whom I wrote about here) knows for sure.

Gerry’s love for the bar atmosphere also fills his days at Palace Station Casino, where he provides cool beverages for pool guests. That must be how he maintains such a nice, even tan. His shirtless shifts at Iconic allow him ample opportunity to display a firm torso enhanced with body art.

Speaking of art, Gerry’s got a secret talent that he’s eager to get back into. It’s called “Fire Poi” – a performance art with roots in Māori culture. Combining the swinging of tethered weights with music, dance and the element of fire, this is one unique talent that no doubt raises temperatures…especially when performed by a hottie of this magnitude.

Brad Benson – bartender

In every crowd of smooth pretty-boys, there’s that one burly lumberjack who commands attention without saying a word. Iconic’s “Paul Bunyan” title goes to bartender Brad Benson, a gentle giant of a man.

Chiseled, furry and rippling with brawn, the L.A. native cuts a striking figure whenever he’s positioned at the front door. You can’t miss Brad when he’s behind the bar, either. You’ll see him upstairs at the second-level AVANT Cocktail Lounge or alongside the main dance floor/performance space, serving libations with a gentle smile and a sexy grind of the hips.

Being that Brad’s the strong silent type, it was tough to get very much info out of him. I do know that he’s a personal trainer (no surprise) who’s into weight lifting. What’s surprising is that he’s also a fine artist who works on large-scale abstract paintings.

Brad’s other large-scale work of art is his physique, which he proudly shares on his Instagram page. It won’t give you many clues into his personal life, but it certainly uncovers plenty of skin.

Not many nightclub owners are also card-carrying members of the title of “Sexiest Man Alive”. But DNA Magazine included Iconic founder Adam Simmons in their 2019 salute to club owners due to his stunning hotness.

Adam is the ultimate extrovert, sharing his radiant smile and positive attitude with everyone he encounters. His entertainment background on Broadway fuels his desire to make Iconic a haven for acceptance, enjoyment and sexy thrills:

You’ll even spot him on the dance floor with his supportive and equally-hot husband Jason Jones. The two make a dynamic pair…and want you to be a part of the dusk-til-dawn fun at Iconic Nightclub.

Sometimes the pressure of our daily routine makes us say “I just want to run away and join the circus”. But have you ever known someone who actually has? Well, meet a man who ditched his white-collar career for a chance at Sin City’s newest big tent spectacular.

Roman Mokrenko is a 29-year-old Ukrainian from the port city of Odessa. Known as the “Pearl of the Black Sea”, Odessa boasts amazing architecture and a renowned Opera and Ballet Theater. The natural beauty of the Ukraine is as much a part of Roman as his love for physical arts. A longtime athlete, he studied acrobatics before pursuing a career in law. While attending the National University Odessa Law Academy, he simultaneously became a Junior Lieutenant in Military School.

Being both a lawyer and a military officer didn’t extinguish Roman’s desire to accomplish something artistic:

One moment I just realized that this office life is not for me. I cannot live without a “scene”. Thank God I have a background in acrobatics and artistic gymnastics…I almost never stop training. There is too much energy in my head and body that I have to “splash” somewhere.

If you’re going to make a splash, what better pool than the Las Vegas entertainment scene? There are countless productions here that incorporate aerialists, gymnasts, acrobats and contortionists. So when Roman discovered a casting call for the new circus-style show CELESTIA at The STRAT, he decided to take the plunge.

I applied for the casting without much hope. Here you can see the best artists of the world. I thought it was impossible, but now I’m here! This is my favorite part of life in Las Vegas. I have seen almost every show.

Roman arrived in Las Vegas on Valentine’s Day 2018. You might say that this was the beginning of a love affair with Sin City’s desert. Although he misses life by the sea, the excitement of performing in Vegas has allowed Roman to reach new heights. He just had to learn how to deal with the scorching climate.

Air conditioning saves us from extreme heat. But sometimes when I have practice in the afternoon it just helps to warm up and train without a shirt. On stage, the artist must look divine. Not for nothing that I train every day and stay on these diets. If you have something to show off, then why not?

He may joke about flaunting his chiseled abs, but Roman’s physique has landed him several modeling gigs…some of them a bit unusual.

I was a sketch model several times in New York City when the show was being revised. People sit in circles, have drinks and make sketches while you’re almost naked. I’ve had several shoots with photographers…one was for a foot fetish site, haha!

That Ukrainian sense of humor comes through in Roman’s character work for CELESTIA, but it’s his physical abilities that stand out. He hopes that audiences will be inspired by his feats and channel that into their own fitness journey.

We’re on our phones all the time, but we can do it with some “profit”. Keeping in shape is much easier than going in and out of form. For ordinary people (not performers), 30 minutes a day will be enough. Just walk on a treadmill and watch a movie or play a game.

When not entertaining crowds, Roman still finds himself in the company of fellow artists. After a massage and hearty breakfast at Omelet House, he heads to a very unique school:

I like Nevada Rhythmic Academy. It’s a place where I can train, invent new acts, meet artists from other shows and try something new together. There is a real aura of the gym in which I grew up.

Mokrenko is considering buying a home here in Las Vegas, but there are a few dreams overseas yet to realize:

One day I’d like to be live on a stage with Ludovico Einaudi, Max Richter, Olafur Arnalds or Hans Zimmer. They are my favorites. And I want to perform with Nederlands Dans Theater. It will be an amazing mix between ballet and aerial performance…like dancing in the air!

CELESTIA performs Wednesday through Sunday at 7 p.m. with additional 9 p.m. shows Friday through Sunday.

Hot Guys of Vegas: Mathieu Bolillo

France’s man of mystery lets his body do the talking…

There are performers and celebrities who could chat all day about themselves. Without them, we wouldn’t have gossip websites, grocery store tabloids and gab sessions with Ellen Degeneres. Mathieu Bolillo is different. Taking the lead from Olivia Newton-John, he prefers to just get physical.

My first encounter with Mathieu was this past February on my birthday. It happened to coincide with his debut performance in a new brunch show. It’s hard to focus on your eggs when this fireplug of muscle walks onto the stage, strips off his shirt and commences with a dazzling routine that would have you swearing off croissants for the rest of your life.

I had to do some digging to learn more about this rippling hunk of inspiration. There are precious few personal details about the athletic Frenchman on his website…but plenty of eye candy and physical feats to wow and impress. So I reached out to Mathieu directly and asked him to tell me more about himself.

Naturally, the strong-and-silent hunk admitted that he preferred to keep his private life close to his bare chest….er, “vest”.

I have one sister and we were born in Bordeaux, France. I’m raised in France with Spanish, Arabic and international influences due to the origins of my parents and to my high level gymnastic background.

As an international artist, Mathieu has performed in his home country, Germany, Spain, throughout Asia on board the Golden Princess cruise ship….and of course, in Las Vegas.

Bolillo spent six years with the cast of Cirque du Soleil’s KA at MGM Grand, defying gravity nightly in the long-running epic production. Returning to France in 2010, he contracted a very serious case of chicken pox that nearly claimed his life (adult cases are much more severe than the childhood variety). It took a year to recover and get back his strength and physique.

In order to set himself apart in the competitive world of athletic entertainment, Bolillo created a new apparatus that he calls the Balance Wheel. His innovative design and self-taught act garnered him the 2016 U.S. Aerial Champion Award for “New and Innovative Apparatus”. It also launched the next phase of his career.

A self-proclaimed “fitness freak”, Mathieu has an intense desire to push his body to the limit. That’s led to impressive stunt work in films. He’s also a go-to for innovative modeling shoots, special events and fitness workshops. Even in his down time, Bolillo can’t seem to rest…he includes soccer, crossfit and basketball as methods of “relaxation”.

The new production I met Mathieu at sadly didn’t last, but that’s the reality of entertainment in Sin City. Looking ahead, the ambitious 39-year-old is hoping to lend his talents to new innovative productions. He’d also like to work more in front of the cameras. His expressive face, hot body and sultry voice are tailor-made to capture attention.

Just don’t ask him to talk about himself…

Sexy Power Duos: Torrey Peak and Greg Woerdeman

A real-life couple shares how they became internet sensations…and their secret for being “Vegas-ready” every day.

Over the past few months I’ve shared some self-improvement experiences I’ve found in Las Vegas. Spa treatments, a weight loss center, a custom straight-razor shave and more. Then I was lucky enough to make the acquaintance of a charming couple who share their awesome knowledge and advice on skin care. And no matter what your age or gender, you can always learn from people in the know.

Greg Woerdeman may not be a household name, but you’ve probably heard about this overnight sensation. The handsome blue-collar hunk rose to fame in the most inauspicious of ways. Stepping in front of news cameras this January to alert drivers about impending weather and road conditions, the District Operations Supervisor for Tennessee Department of Transportation set the airwaves on fire. In no time at all, #TDOTHottie was born!

What happened next is the kind of story you read about in magazines….the new viral sensation was doing talk shows, personal appearances, photo shoots and romance novel covers. A bit of a private person up to this point, Woerdeman had no previous social media accounts or activity. Luckily for him, lady love Torrey Peak stepped up to guide and promote her beau’s new-found fame.

Torrey is no stranger to the spotlight. A Certified Surgical Assistant and gifted photographer with her own successful business, the Emporia, Kansas native was once a competitor in the NPC Flex Lewis Classic. If you’ve watched that sport, you know how important it is to be meticulously groomed and looking your best every hour of the day.

Recently the professional photographer found herself on the other side of the lens when Torrey joined Greg for a series of Furious Fotog photo shoots together. They’re featured in a stunning collection of romance novel covers that bring their healthy lifestyle and passion for each other into focus. So now more than ever, the handsome couple is working their hardest to look their best in the safest possible way…today and for the future.

Greg joked during an on-camera interview that his secret to looking hot is a cup of coffee, eating “somewhat okay” and going to the gym a lot. Of course we’re only as good as the things that we put into and on our bodies, which is why Torrey got involved with a line of carefully-created body and skin-care products named BEAUTYCOUNTER.

Influenced by her work in the medical field and frustrated that the FDA considers thousands of chemicals to be safe when they’re actually harmful, Torrey did research to find a smarter choice in skin care. “I believe that a lot of diseases like MS are misdiagnosed. It has to do with toxicity in the body. It’s so frustrating to me. We have one body, and everything we pile onto it is unbalancing our system and derailing it. Torrey used the ingredients in conventional chemical sunscreens as an example of this gene-altering situation. “Parabens (compounds used as preservatives in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals) mimic hormones in your body. They disrupt your endocrine system and cause things like erectile dysfunction. The increase in sunscreen usage has actually led to a rise in melanoma. It’s just crazy”.
